Description
The Short-Faced Bear aka the Bulldog Bear was one of the largest bears that ever lived. On 4 legs it stood 6 feet tall, but on its hind legs, it stood 12 feet tall. It moved in a pacing motion like a camel, horse, and modern bears, making it built more for endurance than for great speed. This has led most scientists to believe that it was a scavenger more than a hunter, using its sheer size to intimidate Saber-tooth Cats, Dire Wolves, and American Lions into giving up their meals. However, there are some people (including myself) believe it was an opportunistic omnivore like modern brown bears. Recently, it was discovered that the Short-Faced Bear's closest living relative is the Spectacled Bear from South America, the inspiration for Paddington Bear.
