SHIKAIZAR
The Protector Pokémon
Type: Fire/Ghost
Height/Weight: 6'3"/219.5 lbs
Abilities: Intimidate or Flash Fire
>Evolves from Growlithe when Growlithe levels up in [location*] while holding King's Rock

Base Stats: 80hp/90atk/80def/115sa/80sd/110spd/555total

Shikaizar are born from the spirits of only the most courageous and noble Growlithe. They choose a family or a location to protect and will defend it from all evils or dangers for eternity. An ancient legend says that a powerful Shikaizar gathered an army of Growlithe and Arcanine to defend a city from a horde of wicked demons.

Moves: Destiny Bond, Dragon Pulse, Extremespeed, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Hidden Power, Howl, Psychic, Reversal, Roar, Shadow Ball, Sunny Day, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Will-O-Wisp

(This is just a sampling because I haven't come up with the full movelist yet. I'll get around to that eventually.)

*I have a whole mess of regions that I'm working on but Shikaizar doesn't currently belong to any of them. When I figure out where it goes I'll edit in the region name and specific location.

A few friends of mine are entering ~mistieredpanda 's contest and it looked like fun. A lot of work, especially if you do well, but fun. And it's just another excuse to further develop a fakemon idea I've had stewing for a while.

So, the contest requires entrants to pick a Pokémon and create an evolution for that Pokémon that involves the King's Rock. I wanted to pick something no one else had tried yet, and my Big List O' Pokeymans Ideers suggested an alternate Arcanine, so. Alternate King's Rock Growlithe evo.

Since Growlithe and Arcanine are primarily based on shisa, I just took that idea even further. I guess there's a teensy bit of dragon and/or kirin in Shikaizar as well, like the horns and the longer, thinner legs, but yeah, mostly shisa. I didn't feel like shading it and think it looks kinda sexy this way; I may do another version later with shading and a different background, though, just for the hell of it. Yar.

...no earthly idea what I was doing with the background, btw. It just looks hot and that's all that matters.

The name comes from shisa and mikado/kaiser/czar. I'll probably do more work on the design, moves, history/dex entries and all that stuff later, but I'm satisfied enough with this as it is to go ahead and enter it now.
