Old fashioned seaside towns are pretty cool, I bet they're sitting there thinking how it used to be!

Thing is, in Saltburn it is still like that. I love going there. Makes me feel young again. I can almost hear the Roman invaders....

reminds me of the holiday snaps me dad would have taken Nice bit of nostalgia here Nige Makes me want to go and find a pier somewhere and sit on it with Paul.

It is Saltburn in North Yorkshire, one of those seaside towns stuck in the 50s. I love it.

Beautiful shot.
Did I see it before or it's just one of these "daja vu" things?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to Nadia1956 [2009-07-20 17:15:04 +0000 UTC]

This a shot I just grabbed as I was out near my brothers, as I recuperated after an illness. There was actually a man standing leaning on the white fence. He wouldn't move, so I took the shot and cloned him out. Wish you could do that in real life. Thanks for the fave.

Nadia1956 In reply to photonig [2009-07-20 19:17:16 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... I seem to remember some pretty similar shot of yours, you were saying it was taken with a compact you had borrowed from somebody... Did I dream all this out?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to Nadia1956 [2009-07-20 19:38:30 +0000 UTC]

Yep...You got it. It was taken in summer with a compact I borrowed off my brother. You have a good memory....Or is it just that I have a bad one?

Gorgeous Nig! Brings back memories of childhood holidays by the sea-side, straw hats and stalks of rock, buckets and spades....or in the case of my experience as a child in Scotland....anoraks and woolie hats And I'm NOT joking lol

photonig In reply to K-Boyd-Photography [2009-07-19 00:38:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Karen. It's Saltburn. Real old fashioned resort.

I don't know it at all but it sounds charming....I kinda miss the old fashioned-ness of the UK...everyone and everything here seems to be heading for the future at 100 miles an hour..or should I say Km/hr

Nice B/W -- I'm starting to appreciate them more and more (used to find them boring).

And I agree with all the flattering comments above -- nice work. Just remember, it's not the size of the camera that counts, right? Or something like that.

photonig In reply to now-voyager [2009-07-19 00:34:03 +0000 UTC]

Ha! It's like you were never away........ By the way... My camera is HUGE!

now-voyager In reply to photonig [2009-07-19 01:04:29 +0000 UTC]

Post a picture of your "camera" for us, won't you? hehe

I'll show you mine if you show me yours...

photonig In reply to now-voyager [2009-07-20 16:47:27 +0000 UTC]

I would post a picture of my 'huge' camera....But I need my camera to take a pic of my camera.

now-voyager In reply to photonig [2009-07-20 17:36:24 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps you could just draw it for us? (I mean your "camera" - not your camera.) I seem to recall you are somewhat of a Renaissance Man, yes?

photonig In reply to now-voyager [2009-07-20 18:45:29 +0000 UTC]

LOL! Renaissance Man...... Well, actually, I think I am..... I seem to remember you being fun and silly. Nothing changed, then.....Good.

now-voyager In reply to photonig [2009-07-20 21:52:21 +0000 UTC]

photonig In reply to now-voyager [2009-07-20 22:02:54 +0000 UTC]

Grey is great.... I have a headful. Well I would, if most of it hadn't fallen out......

Could have been in colour in someones gallery.
Just got in from a meal with my son for his 21st. Now it's 11.15, and I'm off to bed for a couple of hours. Have to be up by 1.30 to go on duty...... I will sleep like a baby tomorrow.
