Description
I know it's late... and unfinished.As you can see, I drew the actual picture in Febuary while I was in school. I colored it today and I didn't have enough time to finish it without doing a sloppi job...
It's a picture of my story, Sonic C42 Updated ^^
Editor's Note: Ah~ STUPID REFERENCES!! I can't believe after all these years, I had to use TWO references in ONE drawing!

*Going back underground to the Ancient City was bizarre to say the least. It was way more overrun than he remembered in his youth, and the mini eggman empire down here was destroyed with the giant spiked rock sticking out of it. The blue blur had not traveled down here since he had saved the land above from being thrown out to space from the core being broken. He zoomed through the city and zipped over the ice bridge, but skidded to a stop half way when a crackling sound comes from his wrist communicator*

Sonic: *stops and blinks, looking at his wrist in confusion* Hmm...? *looks around for any sign of movement. The icy landscape was the same as he remembers it, a lot quieter now though... He spots the crater ahead and sighs, the land form having solidified into solid rock*

*The closer he gets to the crater the more static comes through on his communicator. Curiosity got the better of him as he slowly slid down the lip of the crater and landed on the rock hard lava. As his feet met the rocky ground words started to type out on his little screen, garbled words being said by his translator since the signal was hacking its system*

Sonic: *ears pin down as he taps the device in frustration* What the hell...? *looks around again, starting to feel apprehensive. It wasn't HIM... was it?*

Sonic: *swallows hard, remembering the battle here... when Metal Sonic sunk into the lava... by his own volition... Maybe he could still be saved...! He frowns and climbs out of the pit and heads for home as fast as possible*

Tails:*working on an old Metal Sonic model he had recovered from a fight ages ago, finally getting around to doing something with the shell as he contently welds a metal plate over a hole in its side like a patch. It was a mostly metal, grey shell as apposed to the sapphire blue it should be thanks to all the holes that needed patching up*

Sonic: *skids to a halt outside the workshop and bounds inside, coming over to Tails* Hey buddy! I got a favor to ask ya!

Tails:*his fur spikes on ends when Sonic touches his shoulder, not having heard him as he turns off the welding gadget and looks at him*Oh! You startled me for a second bro...*sighs and closes his eyes for a moment before frowning in a scolding manor and pointing a finger at him*How many times have I told you to wait till im done welding before jumpscaring me??

Sonic: *hold his hands up in submission and chuckles nervously* Sorry buddy but I'm in a bit of a hurry. *quickly tries to explain everything to him*

Tails:*blinks, now facing Sonic as he listens to his story with great interest*You think its really him? That would be...impossible. In that extreme heat he should have melted...*looks down in through*But SOMETHING is alive in there.*looks at the message downloaded to his screen*Well these coords target the inner crater...

Tails:*looks at his screen*You have a point...*looks at him*I'll bring the lazor drill.*gets up as he goes to get his things, putting them in the back seat of the tornado*

Sonic: *hops onto the wing of the plane as soon as Tails steps out to the hanger, eager to head back and investigate*

Tails;*gets in his plane as he starts it up, the doors opening. Soon enough their in the air, Sonic telling him where to go since the entrance to the Underground City was a distant memory to him since he was much younger than Sonic*

When they make it through and to the ice bridge, Sonic jumps down from the plane and lands near the crater*

Tails:*pulls out the dril as he flies up to Sonic and lands by him. Sure enough, both their communicators starts to get the same interference and messag*Whoa..This is a pretty powerful hack to get past my communicator!*follows where the coords said it was, positioning the drill just beside it before turning it on. It stabs into the ground with all fours legs before beginning to drill with its powerful lazor*

Sonic: *but once the drill hits a certain point, the hedgehog cringes and grips his head with a pained groanI

Tails:*gasps as he goes over to him quickly*Sonic?!*the drill hits an emergency shutoff when it cant drill no further*

Sonic: *his whole body trembles as he breaks out into a cold sweat, still gripping at his head*

Tails:*looks really worried now as he gently lays him down and checks him over*Wh-Where does it hurt??*as Tails checks him over, a voice echoes through his mind...a familiar voice that made him tear up at the very memory...Surely...it was impossible...!*

Sonic: *eyes snap open as a large tear streaks down his face. He catches it quickly on his fingers and shivers* Wh-Wha.... *glances at the half dug hole* H-He's down there....

Tails:*looks at him in worry before going to the drill, repositioning it to avoid what he had hit, starting it up again as it drills beside the target. When it drills down far enough he turns it off and pulls it aside, offering a hand to Sonic to help lower him down into the large hole*

Sonic: *slides down in, almost losing his balance as he leans against the slope a bit to keep him from falling forward. Despite it no longer hurting, tears still continue to drip down his face*

Tails:*grips his hand firmly as he twists his namesakes, slowly going down into the hole. It was fairly deep, but their feet soon meet the bottom. He gently lets Sonic's hands go as he lands beside him in the hole big enough fit three as he pulls out a mini laser that was much more delicate at its job. He faces the direction the signal was in before slowly drilling. After a few minutes a large chunk of rock shatters in a clump to reveal a curled up, charred to the bone metal Sonic. It was burnt beyond repair but his power core, that had been hidden inside his chest compartment under his jets, was exposed and glowing from Tails' first drill that had accidently chipped him*Whoa...It IS him...

Sonic: *leans over to take a look, but his vision is blurred as the tears well up in his eyes and drip from his cheeks*

Tails:*steps closer as well, hesitantly touching the shell of the robot*This is...unrepairable...But...*looks at the Power Gem that was inside the shell*There could be a chance...

Sonic: *tries to clear the tears away but they just keep coming. He soon gives up and looks at Tails* Let's get him back home then...!

Tails:*nods abit as he gets his laser out, clearing away the rocks around the 'corpse' of the body. Once enough is cleared he carefully tries to pry it out, tails twirling as he tries to carry the heavy metal body out of the trench*

Sonic: *quickly helps him as the two lifts the skeletal structure out of the crater and to the plane*

Tails:*sets the robot down in the back seat, putting the tools on the floor. As he goes to the driver seat of the plane he looks at Sonic who was still cryin*Are you gonna be okay to stay on the wing?

Sonic: *flinches and looks at him. The tears continue to stream down his face, but he isn't actually crying... His voice sounds normal and he doesn't seem sad... but then why were the tears so....* Y-Yeah...! I think so.... *looks at Metal's body*

Tails:*nods a litle as he gets into the drivers seat, waiting for Sonic to jump onto the wing before starting the plane and taking off*

Sonic: *sits on the wing just as easy as he always does, but every now and then he finds his eyes falling on Metal....*

Tails:*looks up at Sonic for a moment as he flies, worried for him as he flies them home to his workshop. He lands in his runway as he looks at Sonic*Can you help me get him inside?

Sonic: *by this time the tears had died down as he nods and hops off the wing*

Tails:*hovers over as he grabs the front end of the robot, Sonic grabbing the back end as they carry him inside. He's set on the table as the rob quickly gets to work with carefully removing the diamond shaped crystal that acted as his heart and brain*

Sonic: *spines spike as a reflex as he grips Tails' arm and holds him behind himself a little, setting the diamond back on the table*

Tails:*slowly approaches the gem again, using his handheld device to scan it*Whoa...! This is a real Power Gem..! I thought all these got wiped out during the erruption..! I dont know how but...all of Metal Sonic's data and memories are IN this gem...! Like...like a lifesource or a heart or brain even..!

Sonic: *seems to be very unsure of the situation* Let's not get ahead of ourselves, buddy... Metal Sonic is still one of Eggman's old robots...*

Tails:*still looks amazed as he looks at the data he was getting*This gem is stable...but its very low on power...I think when I hit it, it started using power to try and heal itself..?

Tails:*thinks for a moment before getting an idea. He gently picks up the Power Gem and brings it to a smal machine with a door, putting it inside on the stand that it seemed to fit in. He closes the door and pushes some buttons as small lightning bolts of electricity bounce around the gem, the red glow fading slowly back to green which was a good sign*....I gotta think of a safer version of my Mass Power Core...

Sonic: *is quiet for a moment before looking at Tails* I-I can't believe that even after all these years, the robot and I are still connected so strongly...
