Description THE POWER OF THE PUN IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE

I have no idea. I just wanted to draw. I think this moose is friends with the jingle bell fox... I understand myself, that's the most important.

First try with the drawing gum (gomme de réserve) ! I still have to learn lights... you can see the line art on my art tumblr
Otherwise, usual combo of watercolors, pigment liners, watercolor pencils and mechanical pencil.

This is epic! Moose are such weird creatures and the candles only add to that. Feels very Christmassy for some reasons I can't quite pinpoint.

thank you !
I love mooses, because they are so weird I am so sad I haven't seen many when in Finland (but I guess I would have shat my pants because they are so BIG)
Haha I didn't mean it to be Christmassy but maybe it's the candles ?

Yeah, they ARE weird! And yeah, I love looking at photos of them but also not sure if I'd like to actually meet one!

Finns are more afraid of mooses than of bears or wolves, so that says something ! (although I don't really get being afraid of wolves if you're not, like, totally lost in a forest alone during a harsh winter but that may be just me)
I saw one on the side of the road from a bus, and while it was a young female, I guess, it was already SO HUGE

I looked at the thumbnail and though it was just a picture of a moose, then I clicked on it and I saw the candles and my jaw kina dropped. I’m not sure why but I find this image really striking! Love the colour too!

Thanks a lot ! I'm glad you liked the candles ^^ that's how it happened : I drew a moose and then "why not add candles ?"

Backwards, as it turns out. When it does work

I like the concept, it's really original. I don't think I've heard anything before from a moose (or reindeer, or deer - an animal like that) with antlers as candles, while it's an idea that, to me, sounds like something that should already exist for a long time. It wouldn't be out of place in a Norse myth for example! (It could also make a good fake Pokémon )
The painting itself is also pretty good! I like that you picked blue, that enhances the supernatural vibe even more, and did you use the drawing gum on the flames? I never heard from the material before, but it looks interesting.
One point of critique though (I hope you don't mind?), the part behind the snout and the goatee (the dark blue part on the left) could use some more contrast in comparision with the rest. Because it doesn't stand out that much from the face of the moose, it makes the whole thing a little flat.

Thank you very much And I am always open for critics, that's how you get better I tried to make that part behind more blue, it's actually been painted over and over and colored with purple colored pencils, but apparently not enough ! I shall try to fix that

I might have seen that somewhere on a reindeer. I think. Not sure. My brain is a sponge and I sometimes get ideas that I have no idea of the source ^^"
(and OH YES A POKEMON what kind ? Ice pokemon ? ICE AND FIRE POKEMON this is too big. Maybe just a Ghost pokemon ^^)

I used the drawing gum to protect the flames and the extremities of the antlers from the background blue paint and the grey paint of the antlers, then took it off and painted the flames. It's weird that it's called drawing gum in english because you don't actually draw with it ?

*cough*
I couldn't help myself...

I don't actually know the name of drawing gum in Dutch! Probably one of the reasons why I never heard of it. To look it up, I did use 'gomme de réserve'. That sounded more like what you used.

*these are great I'll comment on you deviation

Yes, gomme de réserve is a lot more on point than drawing gum. It's cheap and easy to use, I guess you can find it anywhere !
