Description The next-largest terrestrial predator of its ecosystem a huge distance after this one , Troodon formosus in all its pissed-off glory. Everything between that? Ask the likes of this guy or the juveniles of the other tyrant up there.

My previous iteration of this all-time favorite can be seen here . More extensive leg wings, more extensive in terms of ankle-to-end of tail-feather frond, although _severely_ less extensive in terms of individual feather size. Don't know if it looks like it, but it's meant to be just that. I figured it might be likely for this to happen, considering the many "hard" anatomical changes between things like Jinfengopteryx and all those Tiaojishan avialan well-wishers on one hand, and this animal on the other; plus, the smaller the rectrices, the less likely I am to screw them up as I did in my previous Troodon, where they look like a poorly tacked-on vertical afterthought.

No, it's the "regular" Troodon from the mid-late Campanian of Alberta and Montana. And thanks for the compliment!

You're very welcome (/cough just give it some color and it'll be perfect ...)

Really cool!

And not so different than how i envisioned the troodons in my (work-in-progress) novel... The only difference is that i described 'em to look more magpy/crow-like, with bulkier neck and almost owl-ish face (pseudo-facial disks and all)

Hey, thanks! I think the almost owl-ish face with big facial disks might work on some smaller troodontids, but on derived, large, long-snouted forms like this one, it looked just too strange to me to incorporate it into this drawing.

Well, guess you're right... But then again barn owls' skulls have a somewhat long snout yet in real life they look completely different

Awesome. I love deinonychosaurs.

Ha, thanks (unless more evidence surfaces that removes them from Deinonychosauria).

Fantastic plumage!
Ist echt gut geworden, das einzige was ich am alten besser fand war die Musterung der Schwanzfedern.

Danke. Das mit den Rectrices ist immer so ne Sache, die sind fΓΌr mich wirklich die abartigste Stelle zum zeichnen.
