The bird is well positioned and sharp, and the branch has real character.  I generally prefer the subject to be a bit larger within the frame, but this is very nice nonetheless.

Very cool!  I've never had much luck photographing birds.  Your little flycatcher is nice and sharp and he's quite the poser too!  Nice work, Tris

Many thanks, John!  My luck with photographing birds comes from taking thousands of shots in the hopes that one might turn out.  And once in a great while it actually happens.

this little bird looks great against the soft green background. Lovely composition, too. I actually love that you pulled back and used that branch to create more visual interest.

Thanks, LeeAnne.    It was actually my prime telephoto lens that was in charge of distance, but I'll relay your compliment.  (It's a very smart lens!)

nice little pose the flycatcher made for you..made for a nice composition too wonderful sharpness and tones..maybe just a tiny bump in contrast to benefit the branch but that's just being nitpicky for my preference wonderful capture, tris!

Thank you.    I didn't have a tripod but he stayed long enough that I could fire off a number of shots, giving me a chance to get one in focus.  Very cooperative!  And while flycatchers may not be as eye-catching as some birds, I've always thought them rather adorable.

They are! I've never been close enough to get a decent shot of one. Though I have found a nearby nature reserve so maybe I'll get lucky!

There's nothing better than discovering a new birding place, especially when it's close by.  I found mine a couple years ago and now it's where I walk from May 1st through mid-October.  (It doesn't open until May because it's an elk refuge in winter.)  Right now it's particularly exciting with all the migratory birds.  My daughter and I actually saw four glossy ibises there last week.  I'm still in shock.

 I looked for Ibis pictures and you hadn't posted any! Still, just seeing them must have been thrilling! Judging from your pictures, the refuge is a beautiful place. It must be a pleasure to walk though even when you don't see anything interesting....

No, I didn't post any of the glossy ibises because I didn't have enough pixels once they were cropped.  I was at quite a distance from them as it seemed they might spook easily.  And yes, south park is simply wonderful!  I was there this morning, in fact.
