The left drawing looks like something from 10 years ago instead 2 years lolz. Back then I really liked the drawing, especially the eyes and hair. Right now I'm like: How could you like that, Pin?! eAe"
I couldn't resist to draw it again huehuehue. I tried to keep the design, composition and colorpalette the same, but there is too much pink omg. My choice of colors back then are burning my eyes now
The umbrella on the left looks giantic as if she is going to hit someone with it... In 2012 I just learned what layers are and "clipping group". So forgive my mesiness even though I did my best to draw clean ;u;
Anyway, as you see I'm not born with talents =v=" In 2010-2011 I quit drawing and it affected my skills. I regret that time OTL" But then I discovered digital art and worked from 2012 to now.
I see a lot artists getting discouraged when they don't see improvement after a short whole. Or the thought that only talented people get good. The truth is, improvement takes time and doesn't happen in weeks or months. They say you are "pro" once you've spent 10,000 hours in 1 subject. Which is 10 years experience with average 2~3 hours practice EVERY day. It may look a lot, but don't be discouraged.
Besides, nothing is perfect but if you notice "imperfection" in your art it means you can improve. Artblocks are to me "doors to next level". Something great is waiting behind, but I have no key to get through yet.
If I don't keep trying, I will never break through the door. So please, don't give up and keep going.

Drawing time: Ironically I took 5~6 hours back in 2012 and now too. Nothing changed to my speed lol But now I spend more time drawing details instead cleaning haha-
Program: Paint Tool SAI. I made both drawings with the same program, tablet and sitting on the same chair XD I don't get why some people think using the same tools will make the same results.

What tutorials did you use to learn human anatomy and facial structure? I'm having a hard time with that

I didn't use specific tutorials or guides to learn anatomy. Basically you can use every resource available, but it's up to you which are useful or not.
You can't say what is right or wrong because people have their own preferences. Start off with references and guides that look decent to you.
As you improve, you will discover better and more accurate resources. Alternative option is to study photos and real life anatomy for a 'realistic' feel.

yup, happens to me when looking back at the old drawing & just can't help but cringe at the thought of "How did I did it like that ?" and of course there is no escape from art blocks haha
can see a huge improvement especially the choice of colors and character's anatomy which i'm struggling with it now OTL but anyways you art are awesome and keep it up ;D

I remember one time, there was an art contest, I don't remember where, but this guy was practicing art for 8 years and was confident and convince he might have a chance on winning because of how many years hes been working for that moment. Then theirs another guy who only practiced for like 1 or two years. He was also confident and all.
He won.
The guy who practiced for many years was discouraged. He was heartbroken how hard he worked to get here and to just lose to someone who he though barely tried. Its sad, I know.

Those stories worries me too, that's why I never reallly worked hard to get good at something before. To hear that I fail after trying so hard hurts a lot. Though at some point I wanted to try out, what if I did try my best and put passion into it? Age and amount practice doesn't matter a lot in my opinion. It's your own attitude and will that makes you improve ^_^
There are always people who looks like to archieve anything without doing a thing. I'm sure they have their ways and took a different path. Hmm... I want to figure out how xD

I have been drawing for awhile now, but I have been learning on my own with no classes and all which means It takes longer for me to improve. Whenever I see how much people improved over a short time span, it discourages me. Like, "Look how good they got! I'll never be able to draw like that..". But I changed over the years where I didn't feel hurt anymore when i saw things like that. I just work harder and strive to become or maybe be even better then them :3

I keep thinking that I need to improve fast or else I'll be afraid of quitting and feeling that I am no good at this. Andso I went inactive for three months. But when I look at this and your comment, it reminds me again that improvement takes a while tosee so I need to be patient. I had started again even before I see this, but this gives just the push I need to practice. Thank you!（⌒▽⌒）
