The smell had been carried by the wind for miles. It wasn't a fresh smell, far from it. But Rhifel was hungry. And she was even less about to say no to a free meal. Even if the whole thing had started to rot or be eaten away by flies and other vermins, there had to be still something to grab on it. She could even be fancy about it and take the time to cook it depending on the state of it all.
As the feline made her way through the area, another smell came to her nose and almost immediately, the fur along her back went up. Oh great... Not only was she getting a gamy meal but she had to fight for it with a canine. Desperate times called for desperate measures. Or something like that.
She walked along the trail of the smell, quieting her steps and making sure to keep the wind in front of her. Then, finally, she found it. The thing was on the ground, very dead. And almost jumping around in the dumb excitement of their specie, a small orange canine. Things... would be easier than she thought.
She puffed herself even more before exiting her hiding spot and marching straight to the carcass. And as expected, the puny dog immediately reacted by jumping between her and the food.
"Back off! I found it first !" exclaimed the ginger canine.
"And you are going to stop me, how ?" she growled back. "I feel half-generous today. We can do it easy. Or you can make it very hard for yourself..."
