No problem
Yeah I see why you made the legs long, but the anatomy of the MOC is a little odd because of that.

I mean uhm.. It's clearly humanoid, but the anatomy doesn't correspond to a humanoid.

Overall
Vision
Originality
Technique
Impact
As an overall "grade", I think this one deserves a 1/10 or perhaps a 2/10
the build itself is very bad. the overall uneven armoring and the lack of attention to detail make this moc suffer. the build looks very simple (which sometimes works. but not this time) and the blending of system and bionicle looks lazy to me.
vision:
was nice, but it didnt look like you had the "full picture" before you began to build; it looks improvised. the proportions are odd (yes, i knw you wanted them to be, but the thighs are way too ling in comparison with the shins) and the hat was too simple, oddly colored, and far too tall for any practical use.
the originality:
was one of the crations only strong points, and i rather like the concept but the ideas presented are done so in a very sloppy way.
technique:
the blending of system and bionicle in this moc is sloppy, and the moc is lacking a defined detail. the ankles, the shins, the feet, the thighs, and the body all need a complete overhaul.
the feet do not incorperate any clever piece combinations and they look like you just threw a handful of parts together in the best way you could while still retaining some degree of stability. those feet are gappy, and akward in appearance. the shins are, again, sloppy and lacking in defined shape. the shins are just a couple of limb pieces with some system smashed together (it looked like you were just trying to throw more system in there to make it coherent with the rest of the moc, and you didnt pay attention to shape while doing so) those ankles are skinny and boring. the thighs are very bad. the thighs are far too simple and lack shape; they look loke big blocks with NO shape. they are simple, TOO defined and waaaaaay too blocky, not to mention that those tubes sticking out of the legs are out of place. the torso looks boring and blocky, again, the giant system blocks are making this moc look bad. you need to give the moc more shape and less block, and those circular plates all over the place are strange looking and out of place. also, the arms are simple, but better than the rest of the moc.
Impact:
when i saw this one, i thought "nice effort, but you still fail at shaping, sorry dude"
dont take this as a piece of spam or a troll message, i'm just being completely truthful, and if i offended you, woooooops

Hi Gong. Thanks for these critiques. I have to say I was almost going to rate these as unfair, but I'll go ahead and rate em as fair. Critiques aren't always "OMG you did this so well" I understand that. However, you're saying things that as a general consensus, most haven't said about either of these MOCs. I'm not gonna disregard what you said, and again I thank you for the feedback. I'll definitely keep it in mind. But I do kinda have to call what was said into question, as well as who said it. I honestly would be able to take your advice much more to heart if I knew you were a MOCer and one with any skill. So I ask, do you have any MOCs you can post? Its like they say "often the best sailors are those without ships."
I'm gonna make a journal spotlighting your critiques and will be asking others to support or disprove what you said. I'm glad to get some critical feedback , I just have to question the validity of it.

well, i switched accounts here, and i have indeed begun to delve into the making of mocs, when i finish my creation, i'll post it and link it to you.
i rate these by comparing them with other mocs on other sites, and that is why they were low. if i were rating this according to DA standards, it would have been at least a 3 star moc.

Ah I see. Well you may want to post some stuff soon.
Okay that makes a bit of sense to. Ther's a lot of really neat MOCs on Flickr, but as a general rule of thumb, I see those MOCers go about MOCing a little differently than I do. A lot of MOCers seem to be interested in aesthetics and not as much about functionality, where as I try to go right down the middle for both, aesthetics and functionality and structure. That's just my approach. I stick a little truer to the original concept of bionicle, functioning figures and things that look cool. I've been a fan since 2001. I was 11 years old when that came out, so for me I'm just sticking to the core tenants of bionicle. I don't knock what others do with MOCing, that's some great stuff they come up with, it just doesn't work for me.

you need not sacrifice good looks for good stability. many mocers do both.
you dont need to be a mocer to critique the shape or proportionism of a moc

im willing to let you have the first one but the second stays true.
why do have to moc to be able to say "these proportions look sunny" or "his arm is too blocky"
any one could make these simple observations

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Taka-Sonatchi-Bii [2012-08-22 07:41:52 +0000 UTC]
Because sometimes in MOCing those things are done on purpose or its the simple nature of using blocky plastic parts to create the vision you have, and only a MOCer would know if there's a better way to make that work and would be able to recommend different parts.
I talked to people about your critique, and I still am grateful for it. But all you did was point out what was wrong, you didn't give any advice for how things could be fixed. As cave shinobi said, there was no "thread to hold on to." And only a MOCer is going to know how something that isn't done well on a MOC can be executed better. A non-MOCer critiquing a MOC would be like someone who speaks German trying to critique English poetry.

why would you try to tell someone to use a different part instead of telling them the problem so that they can fix it how THEY see fit? building styles in which the indoskeletons are so simple that any mocer can come along and say "i think you should use this piece instead of this one" are often bad <:L
look, im not going to hold your hand, and im not going to sugarcoat things. you have some problems with the builds(just like every mocer), but im not going to hold your hand and tell you which parts you should use and where. i tried to focus on shape, so you could find your own, CREATIVE solutions and you dont need to be a mocer to do that.
the vast differences and slangs that belong to each of the worlds languages are far more complicated than basic shape. a child can point out flaws in basic shape.

Well I'd say that it doesn't really mean anything because you're just a name and an icon, so who ever you were doesn't show. You can be who ever you want now and hide your true motives for doing things.

You mean the MOC all together or his revamp?
Thanks for the compliment Simeon. I'm glad you like his everything cept his feet. I agree that they're a bit bigger than I would have liked, but this was the only way I could get a shaping that I really liked. So I made his feet a bit bigger so that they could at least look pretty good, and I think they do. They have an old timey shoe look to them I think. Also, have you ever noticed how Most BioMOCers build completely symmetrical feet a lot of the time? Not many people make the inside of the foot stick out further like feet actually do. I'm sure there'e exceptions to this. I can't be the only one who's done this, but I can't recall seeing anyone else's MOCs with feet that have any indication of a big toe or the actual shape a foot has.

Now that I think about it, I see what you mean. But damn, that must be one big ass large toe: lol!*I hate pointy shoes irl. I lost both pinkie toe nails to this one pair after having worn them only just once.*

Damn dude, that sounds painful SO on top of being sick all the time you fall apart easily to? You must be made of mega blocks Simeon. Simeon...the human Mega block in a world of Lego.

Same here, lol.
It was painful indeed. I had to tear them the rest of the way off too: and to think that I wore them for a job interview.
Nah man, I'm made of those retarded nano blocks along with mega blocks, that explains my major unevenness.

That sucks.
I am lopsided to a noticeable extent.
Not only am I editing the finished Titan sized MOC, but I completed a small MOC and made a whole new one from a failed shoulder cannon. So I have three to post.

Thanks. Yeah that's kinda why I went with this design. They had more of a shoe like appearance to me. Even though they do make his feet kinda big, I feel that's a little justified with how freakin' tall this guy is. I'm 6.2 and have 121/2 long feet. I know foot length is typically relative to actual height.

I'm only now seeing that little smily face, that's an amazing touch. Like L.A. said, I really like how this is a Brown and Tan titan, you don't see those that often. I like the leg shaping, and the strange blockiness of the arms. The parts choice for the torso is great, that spot on his chest almost looks like a heart light. I quite like his bio, the idea behind him is fun and original.

Thank you Brickins. I'm glad you like him to. The part on his chest is one of my favorite things about him because I took a printed part from a star wars set and turned it into something completely different. That's not always an easy thing to do, but I found that part lent itself well to this MOC and the idea behind it. It had a warm glow aspect to it that seemed really fitting.
I'm glad you like the bio to. Hell I'm glad someone took the time to even read the bio. I completely rewrote it as well.
