Wow I remember these so well.
Nice job!

So it can be called classic hardware

First I was like: Why does he post images of a network card? Then I took a closer look. It's been a while since I have last been this impressed. Kudos!

Thank you!
I was asked once to upload wireframe image... because it was hard to distinct from photo >>  fav.me/d8v75nc

crazy details... I wanted to ask you some questions about the process but you already answered them before so i already know...it's really top class work. maybe the metal part on the bottom right photo is a bit "plastic-like" but it's really a tiny problem.

It mostly depends on properly adjusted lighting... if you look at commercial photos of such devices (in online shops sites, for example) they can have similar look - uniform lighting to properly show all details; but for artistic effect it's necessary to place light sources to get some highlights, feel of depth and so on.

Not a photo then? Good job with it! I'm glad I read artist descriptions, the next question was did yo have a reference or did you spend hours scouring the internet.  Nice work

The real card was used as reference... dimensions were taken directly from it

Really nice render. The work on the materials and textures is just awesome.

Thank you, bearing in mind that textures were made from single shot of very basic photocam
The overall color tones were also muted on render, to express some 'olden and dusty' appearance

Well. Thats some very nice usage of simple photo textures.

But using good source images is much easy and gives better results... like in this work >>  fav.me/d89kchh

Yes that one looks nice too. Im interested in your workflow for these. Apply photo to plane and cut out the general outline shape then model the details ontop?

pnn32 In reply to LandeTLS [2015-10-27 18:06:50 +0000 UTC]

All parts were initially modeled as separate objects (as 'groups' in Blender terms), using their datasheets with detailed drawings with dimensions. It allows to re-use same parts in various works. Then the board was modeled, original image was cropped and texture was mapped to board. The final step was placing parts on board, adjusting materials, lighting and rendering.

There are also some 3D Electronic CAD programs, like ARES or Eagle3D with ready-to-use libraries of components, but I didn't use them.

Thanks. I havent modeled circuitboards before. Might give it a go

Excellent job, as usual

pnn32 In reply to MimiMiaART [2015-10-19 19:08:43 +0000 UTC]

>> fav.me/d9lfaag

pnn32 In reply to MimiMiaART [2015-10-19 18:55:16 +0000 UTC]
