Description
The tiny city was in an uproar as Madeline appeared through the clouds. Most of these people had never seen a “regular” sized human and now they were panicking. Though Lukas knew she was a person, the woman was too massive for him to see her as anything but a Goddess. Crowds ran in confused chaos through the streets, but Lukas could not look away from her eyes. The giantess’ gaze was cold and annoyed, her lip curled in disgust as she surveyed his world.
Apparently dissatisfied with their city, Madeline raised her boot over them, casting the hundreds of thousands of people below her into shadow. Now everybody was running. Though she hadn’t spoken a word, the tiny civilians recognized her intention immediately-- She was going to crush them. Lukas’ heart was pounding but he couldn’t move his legs. He followed the slow rise of the Goddess’ wicked black heel. There was a small patch of dirt on her boot, and what looked like… buildings. In horror Lukas realized it was the remnants of a city, flattened into dust. ‘That will be us,’ thought Lukas, turning to flee as the giant woman started leisurely bringing her boot down on them. He wished he were big enough to stop her, even to speak to her: tell the giantess that they were worth letting live. Lukas scrambled under the bench of a bus stop for shelter, fighting back tears. He could not stop her, only hide in shame, knowing that he and everyone he loved would end under this woman’s boot like common bugs. Lukas looked up, past the rim of her boot, hoping for mercy in that giant, cold face, but there was none. Lukas suddenly realized what this was to her, understood her expression of disgust and annoyance; This was an extermination. His life and his friends and family’s lives were nothing to her, just little people she’d decided to get rid of.
In a moment her boot became a black sky crushing down on them. The people in the street were screaming or praying, looking up at the boot in fear as it became bigger and bigger. For the first time, Lukas felt truly small.
Madeline liked seeing how long she could drag this out, inching her heel down to obliterate the tinies. The tiny sounds of people barely reached her ears, but she could guess what they were saying. She felt big doing this, just like with the last city. All these people helplessly waiting for her to end their world. It felt right to be this powerful. Madeline leaned her weight forward, driving her foot forcefully into the earth, shattering the tallest buildings and grinding every person into nothing.
After a moment of soaking in the feeling, she lifted her boot out of the deep print in the dirt she’d made, inspecting her work. Nobody remained, everything was gone. "Why do they bother building these cities, it just makes it easier for me to see them," Madeline shook her head, smiling. Already her mind was wandering elsewhere, the only memory left of Lukas and his people was stuck under Madeline’s heel.
