ForAn Arcanine! I kinda went back to traditional art for this one...
Done with gouache on sketch paper. I know it's supposed to be more dog-like, but I liked the more tiger-ish look, and you all know my favorite animal is the lion, so... ^vv^

I do like arcanine as an akita though, Japan's natinal treasure dog since it became famous for its hard work ethic, endurance, and loyalty. Especially since Arcanine is pseudo legendary.
I'm a dog person, but tigers are just wonderful.

whilst my personal interp was initially just a large fluffy dog, im thinking my next version will be more of a hybrid. however, i gotta say, this is stunning

I gotta upload my one called Raikenah. It's kinda like this, but I think mine's kewler, but it's not as realistic as this, but that's part of what makes it look so kewl. Mine was based on Arcanine and is a tiger too, but it looks really magestic.

And, I must add...it's bothersome that the English translation had to go and ruin the Pokemon's name with "ArCANINE", and make people ignorant. It's almost as bad as Sneasel and Weavile, who were originally cats.

This is gorgeous. Kind of sickens me to see all the comments that whine about how he should be a dog, considering he's NOT a dog- he's a Pokemon, and based on a Shisa, at that. (And calling Raikou a dog down there? So close to losing it right now). Anyway, Lion/tiger+dog. That's the point. And you got that point across perfectly!!
I definitely love the feline face you put here, makes it a very unique piece. I always imagined Arcanine really having the broader, shorter muzzle of a tiger, but still having the lolling tongue of a dog, haha. Beautiful work, as always!!

Ooh, big scary tiger! GREAT drawing of tiger stripes, and the sheen on it looks excellent. Nice going with the detail on the mane, and I especially like how you made its tail as long as a tiger's but furry like an arcanine's.
Though I can't exactly see your growlithe puppy growing up to be this thing... Very nice.

I like your rendition of arcanine as a tiger, even if it is traditionally a dog pokemon. I think this makes a lat of sense and aracanine always struck me as a very powerful pokemon, so tiger fits well into that.

Arcanine is based on the chinese Shisa which looks more like a lion than a dog, although being a mix of those two. I would say there is more feline than canine in Acanine.

Right? Asian culture plays a heavy emphasis on large cats as guardians of more "important" things like temples. Dogs are guardians of domestics, like families.

Arcanines are called 'legendary' because they are based off of an old Chinese legend. It's a good read too. ^_^
