It's finally completed! This is my custom designed compact Sonic Screwdriver based on the TV Series Doctor Who! It was a lot of work but in the end I'm very pleased with the results. ^_^ Please excuse the lack of text to the image. I left space for it but I have no means at the moment to put txt in and will do that later when i get home.In this picture you can see the piece in hand. Right, top corner you can see the sonic held in the proper position with the thumb resting on the cone below the emitter and next to it, the cone is depressed and the sonic is activated. Last shot is the new sonic compared to the classic both sitting next to their respective Tardis Key and as you can see the new one is a true compact Sonic Screwdriver clocking in at 6 inches total.

Superb piece of work. I like it even better than the ones used on the show now. Is there any way you can produce more of these, because I'd gladly pay good money for one of these beauties.

The smaller blue one? No. I haven't made a video of it yet because that prototype is smaller than the finished piece. The other one next to it is an RB replicas sound sonic and that I know a few people posted a video of.

OK, dude, seriously, I have a life outside DA, I have a job and lots of work to do so I'm not always on. I'm glad you love my work but I get comments constantly so I can't always answer them all right away. Lastly, I'm not obligated to answer every single comment I get nor am I required to answer your comments specifically. Like I said I appreciate that you love my sonics but my day doesn't revolve around answering your or anyone else' comments.

Almost done. They should be shipping from the factory to me on Wednesday. Once they are here I can instal the crystals and return spring and make sure they work properly and then I put them in mailing tubes and ship them out to the buyers once that's done. I posted the pics on my Flickr page but not here yet. [link]

Nope. They are all already sold for one thing, and they also would cost you $195 to buy. XD I don't make them for a hobby, it's how I make some money on the side and of course cover the cost of materials, labor and anodized finishes and shipping ETC... Even my little brass ones I make sell for $130 when I do make them to sell, though they aren't going to be sold again until I figure out some issues with the build.

Any of them cost money to make. I can't give away screwdrivers. That other one is the little brass one and that costs $130 when I do sell them. My copper one I'm building for myself isn't for sale and that actually takes more work than the brass one because every part needs to be modified and then soldered so even that one would probably sell for over $150. I can't just send people sonics. They cost too much to make the way I do. Sorry but if you want one you just have to buy one when I'm selling them or find someone that is selling them now but the cheapest metal ones I've ever bought were at least $90 from a guy selling them out of the UK off the Tardis Builders forum.

I'm sorry but I'm not going to be able to build someone else' sonics when I have so many of my own design to deal with. Not to mention that it would still cost money to build it. In parts and in my time to do it right as well as shipping charges so I would still have to charge you even if I had time to do it. It won't be cheap to build a custom. You'd be better of buying a toy version for $25 bucks because it would cost you moore to have me to do something custom.

I designed it purposely to be pocket sized but the finished pieces are just an inch shorter than the 4th Doctors sonic. ^_^

My goodness this is fantastic! I am looking to make one but I must admit, my design is so crude compared to this! Do you have a tutorial or materials list? I know in your other pics you said you used a "jared axel rod," right? Do you mind to explain a bit more about your parts and process? I'd love to know!

Oh well, this one was made from scratch I'm afraid. I don't have any tutorial because I sketched the design on paper, blueprinted it and had a machinist make it from solid aluminum raw stock. Not much I can say about that really.
The One I based off the Jared Axelrod piece was extensively reworked to fit actual electronics. Jared sort of ummm, used a wooden dowel rod and glued a light in the tip XD My approach took some machining and used a blow torch to solder it together. There's the guts to an LED flashlight inside and some custom switched machined out of steel. I used a drill press to spin the parts and a file to sort of "lathe" them down to fit together. Once I had the parts arranged I used plumbing solder and a blow torch to assemble the sonic so it will be solid. I drilled a hole for the button and arranged the electronics inside to sit where I wanted and epoxied them in place. Wired and LED to the end and fitted it with a lens.

Well, I did make a run of them for sale but they're all sold. So far there's 10 in existence. Unfortunately they are expensive at about $195 each. If I do another run I want to bring the cost down a lot.

Yes. There are indeed plans to produce a number of these. The number is dependent on how many people want one. I'll be taking preorders in the next month or so for these where the price with shipping will be named. It won't cheap but it will be cheaper than any licensed item out there and i can guarantee a better quality too.
