I like the sort of techno-magic look to it especially, you are a very lucky collector.

Well it's definitely early steampunk. Taken apart it's all clock gears and copper wire. XD It's actually a full on time machine. What they MIGHT call a vortex manipulator in Doctor Who but I think this is a more friendly mode of time travel and is also more limited but I also think it's more elegant looking. I'm still modding the replica so I haven't done any new pictured yet. Need to mod some internals and I'd like to work some parts of the casing with a file. Once that's done I'm going to make a heavy black leather case for it to sit on my belt.

Well, I didn't make ALL of them...actually...yeah I only modded them all. XD The aged map, the reworked dials on the Omni, the aged OZ key, the custom emitter assembly on the sonic screwdriver as well as the finish, etc.. I mainly reworked them to make them all look and/or function better. XD

I think if I could have any prop I would love to have Nathan Drake's decoder disk from Uncharted 3. It was actually based on a real thing called an astrolabe.

I'm Jealous, you've got three of the greatest Movie props in History (well in my opinion anyways) The Key of Oz, Auryn and the map to all the holes in time.

Police-Box-Traveler In reply to thelastgunslinger23 [2012-01-28 02:34:42 +0000 UTC]
lol, well, the map was the most expensive but the key to OZ is available on Shapeways in Steel, Silver and polished gold plated though the finish on the gold is kinda ugly looking XD I want to get the silver one someday but I went for steel first because of how old it looked. The Auryn is available for $34 on eBay and the Map on Etsy though that's a bit more, roughly $120 shipped but I know the maker is the same guy and it IS worth it. printed on heavy canvass and it's huge.

Not too many people recognize Linkaras gun. XD It took me a few tries to figure out the exact model XD As for Time Travel, aside from the Tardis, the map is of all the holes in the universe and the device in the center is a time machine as well XD

a compass time travel that would be epic though i think the doc wouldn't like it a space hopper to his sports car and a map of the holes of the universe even better wish i had all that stuff

I can tell you where to get one. Etsy. The guy that made mine sells them there for the same price i paid which is roughly $120 shipped. They're made of heavy canvass in a full color print. He doesn't normally age them to look like in the movie but will do it if asked though which is how i got mine. He may also ask if you want it to be accurate to the film in that the clocks on one side of the map were cut off the filming prop but were there on the end credtits map. Not the cheapest prop but just so darned nice.

Linkara's Magic Gun, something that looks like the Alethiometer from His Dark Materials, the key to Oz, the Auryn, a Mark I Sonic Screwdriver, a Tardis Key…
The map I cannot recognize, but I'm gonna say "Stardust?", and that leaves only the yoyo. How did I do?

Police-Box-Traveler In reply to HaroldPotter [2012-01-27 17:09:48 +0000 UTC]
Not bad actually. The device you think may be an Alethiometer is actually a time machine called an Omni from the TV series Voyagers from 1982. Short lived but still awesome! The map on the other hand is actually the map from the movie Time Bandits. ^_^

I only recognise the Key of Oz and the Sonic...obviously. I'm unfamiliar with the other stuff, but in an ideal world, the Snake motif necklace would be from the Sumaran era....

I love that key. ^_^ The snake necklace is called the Auryn and is from a movie called the Never Ending Story. I highly recommend it. ^_^

I wouldn't say that I love the film, just too...80's for me, although I do LOVE TikTok and their version of the TinMan...
I guess really if they had that necklace in Kinda or Snakedance it would imply they had a budget...which they somewhat didn't...

Police-Box-Traveler In reply to frasierdalek [2012-01-28 02:41:22 +0000 UTC]
It wasn't TOO 80's. I mean, all the practical effects, Jim Henson's son worked on some spectacular puppets, the Steampunk design work on Tic-Tok and the Tin Man, and amazing stop motion work on the Gnomes...amazing film. Now the Never Ending Story was sheer 80's XD
Yeah the budget for those stories was pretty non-existent wasn't it? XD

But the Wheelers....they're all neon tubing and metallic fabric, not to mention, terrible lol
I don't know, it all felt incredibly out of character for some reason, like they were trying to be clever. It lacked the charm and innocence of the original film. What don't get is, is it supposed to be a direct follow-on from the original Oz film, or is it a stand alone story
that follows different characters?
Pretty much yeah, having said that, I ADORE Kinda.
Watched the Power of Kroll lastnight. Big mistake. Fortunately the commentary from Baker and Leeson was immensly entertaining
The Androids of Tara on the other hand is amazingly satisfying

Police-Box-Traveler In reply to frasierdalek [2012-01-29 13:26:43 +0000 UTC]
Yeah but they weren't all that bad. They had to leave the organic origin behind and made them into odd mechanical monsters. I loved the creaky noises they made when they moved and laughed.
It's not a direct sequel to the original. Never mistake that. It was a continuation of the story but more true to the books and to the books tone. The two following books to the Wizard of OZ were pretty dark toned...well so was the first book anyway. And it didn't follow different characters. The Tin Man and the Lion and Scarecrow were there which is true to the books, so Dorthy made some new friends that helped her. At the end the Emerald City was restored and so were her other friends. It's dark, it's got wonderful effects that CG just can't replace and some amazing visuals.
I haven't picked up Kinda yet. I need to get the Kings Demons though. I remember really liking that one a lot. I have been trying to get caught up with my Tom Baker era stuff though. Just got the Android invasion since it was just released here.

I'm not sure why, but the whole thing does make my hairs stand on edge slightly, it all feels terribly dark in an 80s sort of way, too much going on I thought, loaded with perhaps too much visual spectacle, not really terribly stylish I'd say
I do like the physical character props though, they had a nice tactile mechanical feel to them
I hadn't seen Kinda before last year and I was massively impressed when I did see it, an extraordinary "mad" performance from one of the actors. I got the Kamelian set a while ago now, I must confess that the King's Demons is unspeakably dull lol
I was given the Key to Time set over Christmas which was nice, been watching them over the past few nights, really love the Pirate Planet and the Androids of Tara, two very satisfying stories, it makes me SO angry that Douglas Adams is gone, as you can be sure that he would have written an episode or two for nuwho. I feel horribly cheated

Really? I got a real Steam Punk quality out of it. Not too overly designed just to go "LOOK WHAT WE DID" which was a staple of a lot of projects the Henson's had worked on in the 80's. I had seen it when I was relatively young but I put it up there with the Never Ending Story, Dark Crystal, Labrynth, and Legend.
I don't know, I haven't seen the Kings Demons in a while but remember, I'm also the guy that loves Black Orchid and a lot of people seem to not like that one. I don't know why, they even ripped the story off to make the Unicorn and the Wasp. XD
I really need to complete my Key to Time set. I have the first three in Special Editions but haven't bought the rest yet. I di just pick up the Android Invasion though.
I do as well. I think we were all cheated with his passing XP

well...yeah lol the steampunk thing seemed a little ill-fitting, but then again I'm looking at it as a sequel to the original which is wrong really lol
Well to me it's a bit of a bog-standard historical Doctor Who that goes on for perhaps a little too long, plus Kamelian's in it, which is usually a negative lol
I love Black Orchid too actually, I like it because it's very like the series Davison did after Who called Campion, where he played a detective (Albert Campion) in the 30s, a very very fun little series, Campion was a bit more of an action-y character, sort of what you'd get in a war film, smart, dashing and always got a quip to say at the right moment
well I was initially unbothered by the set really, then my mum got it for me, by mistake lol but greatly enjoyed watching it, some episodes more than other, Power of Kroll being a frankly disasterous story, thankfully the commentary was hilarious lol
