curious among cursorial quadrupeds, the noble unicorn is in fact an obligate carnivore. they specialize in running down swift prey like hogs and apes in the remaining stretches of algae-free plains dotting their home world. a three-foot erectile proboscis allows them to lap up the prey's liquified organs after successful impalement. by way of immense neck muscle structure, the unicorn can easily disembowel its quarry with a swing from its head. when hungry enough, their horns also allow them to rip open sessile "fungi" and feed on the blood. compared to competing predators, the unicorn is quite delicate, and though it is unrivaled in agility it can be driven off from its kills by much smaller hunters.
