Description A sunrise on Ganymede, the largest moon of Jupiter.

Hit the download button for fullview. dA is still withholding the fullview option (argh...).

This is part of a group of images I will be submitting to Disruptive Publishers, the largest creator of theme-sets for the PS3. As the PS3 UI text is white and cannot be changed, these must be toned down to a yellow gradient as the brightest possible color, in order to be able to see the white UI text over the images as backgrounds. I think it actually turned out looking wicked cool

Hope you like it. Took a while to make. Comments and favs appreciated as always.

EDIT: Added border for effect.

Wow this is one of the most amazing space pics I've seen. Imaging living there... It has an atmosphere and underground lakes...

Sorry about the science...

ahh ganymede, a gorgeous moon of our solar system. I did a project on the Galilean moons way back. If Ganymede were not bound with Jupiter, it would be large enough to be its own planet. Very cool piece. The brightness is breathtaking. Wish there were a little bit more stars though.

Ganymede is fascinating

I did a bunch of research on it before completing the image, and some of the stuff on Wikipedia is endlessly fascinating.

As for the stars, I typically don't do stars out of personal choice. I think it looks better that way

Thanks for the comment, made my day.

Looks very eerie actually, must be something about the yellowing of it I think more turbulence would have been good in Jupiter, looks more like a ringless Saturn at the moment I love the lens flare though

powerpointer In reply to Chromattix [2010-05-31 06:31:38 +0000 UTC]

Very much so

Yeah, turbulence has been a weak point for me. I tend to open the liquify filter, spend about 30 seconds waiting for it to load, and then get frustrated and scribble some distortion in and then just go from there.

Oh well. Live and learn

Thanks for the comment, much appreciated
