I took this with a wider angle lens than i'm used to using. It came out of the negative quite light and overexposed.Ilford Hp5 film, f4.5, 1/500 sec

Barges and bridges and a river. What could be finer?
Seriously, there is a timeless quality to the photograph that draws the eye, with the grainy black and white and the centered and nested bridges and barge. The image flows gently from the foreground walkway, under the exposed girders of the first bridge to the white arch in the background and beyond. The stern mast splits the composition between the traditional lines on the right and the modernistic curves on the right. I travel through time as look back at where the barge has been.
The way the image fans up and outward from the bottom center to the vignetted sky lends a grand unity to the composition.
