I was watching this with my friend and sister. My friend and me said we shipped them. Then my sister said "But they hate each other"
THAT'S KIND OF THE POINT

Hi, I found your artwork through ProjectComment !
I'd like to say, you did a really good job with this! With Qrow especially, the anatomy is pretty spot on. All the portions of his head are well-proportioned in comparison to each other. His clothing also looks good in perspective and his hair has a good sense of volume to it. With Winter, a lot of these aspects are somewhat weaker. Her hair, I feel, could be shaped to be less flat and more rounded. Perhaps using a lighter "darkest" shadow would help. Additionally, given the angling of her eye and eyebrow, it looks like she's tilting her face back, away from the camera. However, her hairline, nose, jaw, and ear appear to disagree with that angle, and are more positioned for to look level. Additionally, I think it's slightly unclear as to whether her chest is facing Qrow, or at least where he's implied to be offscreen, or the camera. The center of her coat appears to be going down some sort of awkward 3/4 area, which weakens Winter in terms of expression as a whole.
In terms of composition, I like the lighting and colors used quite a bit! I feel like you could potentially use the same white-greys (in Qrow's jacket and Winter's coat) throughout, but if being on-model is more important to you, it's your choice. I like the warm orangey-yellow gradient and background, as it help soften it into a more romantic scene, but still keeps its intensity. There are a few technical issues though, like the thick red separation line with the lineart spilling out onto it. The color choice, added to the warm background and Qrow's already present red colors pushes the picture to favor Qrow more as a character, despite the composition implying a sort of "balance" between the two characters. As it is, it's a little ununified as a picture. Additionally, I feel like you could benefit from varying your line weight throughout the piece, instead of simply the ends of individual lines. For instance, on Qrow's line of facial hair, each individual line is the same thickness throughout. While this isn't a huge deal in its thumbnail, it becomes a great deal more apparent and abundant when zoomed in. In addition, using thicker lines (such as for clothing or hair) gives it the illusion of thickness and helps vary the viewer's attention on parts that simply don't matter as much. After all, it's much easier to get a thick line than a thin line to look right.
Happy arting!

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! Qrow is my FAVORITE RWBY character!
I really like how you drew it like an anime scene! So intense-looking/feeling! You can tell the battle is either about to start or intensify. The lighting sets it off really well! I don't have very much experience with digital coloring, so I don't know what to really "advise".
The only thing I can 'critique" maybe is Qrow (or nit pick at Winter's ear size). You drew both characters very well! The only thing (for me) is that Qrow appears "younger". The volume(?) of his hair (or the placing) makes his forehead appear much higher (as seen on most youthful shonen characters). His facial hair and Adam's apple keep his age appearance in the older teens- but not quite fully adult.
Now, please don't be bothered or discouraged by this! This piece overal was executed very well! I personally find it quite impactful and visually appealing! ^^b
