Description
Inspired by my close encounter with two bees today, I decided to accurately illustrate some of Canada's many joys of summer:
Bumblebee: Big fuzzy bees reminiscent of flying pompoms, they're probably the most commonly seen bee.
Red Tailed Bumblebee: A bumblebee with a red tail.
Honey Bee: Small, not-so-fuzzy bees that make honey..
Sand Wasp: A bee-like wasp that digs burrows in the sand. I first discovered these on a playground during summer camp.. not fun.
Yellowjacket: Devils with wings. Aka small hornets with black and yellow markings.
Orchid Bee: Metallic teal bees that look FABULOUS!!
Bald-faced Hornet: A mostly black hornet with pale yellow patches.
Cuckoo Bee: A small metallic blue / green bee with a name that describes the person who tries to pet it.
Pelecinus polyturator: A small black wasp as long as its own name.
Mud Dauber: A wasp often found around mud with a long stalk separating its front part from its stinger part...
Carpenter Bee: A lot like the bumblebee, only smaller and less fuzzy. Some species are completely black, while others look like they have a sticky note attached to their face.
Paper Wasp: A dark wasp that makes those big round wasp nests you see in cartoons.
Orange Spider Wasp: And orange and black wasp with curly antennae that eats spiders... Hey, I guess there's one upside to wasps, eh?
I put my watermark there so you can retweet it, reblog it, reshare it, whatever you do with photos nowadays.
