Description You never know what might be going on in the hangar bay at any given moment, but right now, it looks like Ensign Colt is warming up the Tesla for a ride! Apparently, a photog from Starboy is on this trip, too.

Lt. M'Ress seems to be in a hurry, and with another crewman already prepared for hard space, I hope they get in the Tesla soon ...

The more I see this shuttle the more and more I'd like to see this shuttle make an appearance either in the re-birthed series or continuing series on youtube, a kind of validation that it's not just a fan made thing but it's part of the lore. But to me, it already is. part of the lore..that thing is Trek. and Always will be.

Thanks, man! That warms my cockles . Sure would be fun to get together with some interested folks to build a full-size mock-up of it, and then give the fan productions a look-see . It would take a big garage, since it's about 3 cars wide .

I think that one of the beast parts about this ship is that it has rear-view mirrors.  And I like the car paint shine you've given the whole thing.  Trek ships traditionally use a dull matte finish, which is utilitarian and all, but doesn't seem very fun.  I mean, a hot rod seems like a fairly harmless guilty pleasure in which humanity may indulge.  Why doesn't starfleet have more fun?

Glad you like it - it's my way of trying to indulge my hot rod heart while also enjoying my love of Star Trek. I know the mirrors are hopelessly anachronistic, but if one thinks about it in terms of the actual original series, and the fact that one of the top custom car builders of his day (and even of today, as Gene Winfield is still very much with us) actually built the show's shuttlecraft, as well as the car that was named the Jupiter 8 in "Bread and Circuses," I think it fits in well with the design intent of the show; in a time when cars didn't have cameras, communicators didn't have TV screens, and the jet age was very much in vogue, I like to think the Dart is something we could have seen if only they'd had the budget for it .
