Description The very first picture of the first, fully cast Neva, taken by holyvirus at Dolliverse.

I did it. Blood, sweat and tears but I cast my first, full doll. Neva the Snowfox.
Without a pressure pot or vacuum machine.
She has a few very very tiny pinprick-like holes (you'll need a sharp eye) at her left shoulder and at the side of her right pinky, due to a few miniscule bubbles hiding underneath the surface that appeared when I sanded the seamlines. This even occurs under dolls of large companies sometimes, so I'll take it. Fellow dollmakers Enid Art and Magic Mirror took a look at Neva at the convention and gave their "thumbs up".
Damn, what a ride it has been... And it's not over yet! Twin sister Seraphim the Firefox still needs to be cast, being even more tricky with her tan skin. And then there's making clothes and designing a box and figuring out what face-up I'll give her.
I won't start selling full Neva's just yet. I think I've earned a holiday, after months of repetitive falling and getting back up... And both my money and health ran out (hence why I only posted this now, 3 weeks after the convention took place). In august I'll start again, probably throwing a kick-starter or pre-order of some sort.
The whole story can be read in my journal, here: puppitproductions.deviantart.c…

Eyes and tail by me, decor by my friend Rooziej, wig by Amber-Kyou (company name Dreaded).
That weird thing between her legs is a doll-stand, by the way (it's sort of like a transparent bike seat on a metal bar). Didn't dare to let her stand on her own the whole day, in case people would bump into the table. Most people use stands on conventions.

~Background info: Seraphim the firefox and twin sister Neva the snowfox are two castings of the same double-jointed BJD, standing 53 cm tall. They have interchangeable heads (one fox, one human) and removable ears and tail. This is the first doll of which I'm carefully documenting the making process. I currently have finished the master moulds, cast one full Neva and am doing resin tests for Seraphim. Both girls will be up for pre-order soon.~

while looking up casting tips I found one that could help reduce bubbles when you don't have a pressure pot: paint the resin onto the mold before filling. I haven't tried it, but it sounds like a good idea.

I'm afraid that won't work (to be honest it sounds like a really weird idea to me). First of all it would be difficult to reach everywhere (lots of twists and turns), and second most doll artist use fast curing resin so prevent leaking or reactions to the air... So it would probably become a huge half-cured mess.
But thanks for thinking along!

I hear you. and knowing me, I'd rush it, miss some parts, and really have a mess on my hands!
