Description So, on one occasion I had the Deerclops and the hounds come to murder me on the same day. Or maybe it was one day apart? I don't know, I just know right when I had just dealt with the dogs and thought I was safe than Wilson's all "that sounds big." And then I started screaming because the Deerclops was right in my base. And I ended up just running away and abandoning that base until the winter was over. 'Cause I'm too much of a coward to deal with the Deerclops. Unless I'm WX who has eaten a crap ton of gears.

Good times, good times.

Also, I can't draw snow. I want it to be known. I tried to draw snow on the ground and it looked like bird poop, so that had to be scraped. Just snow flakes now. We'll pretend it's right at the end/beginning of Winter or something. Yeah, we'll go with that.

Don't Starve (c) Klei Entertainment.

its a good idea but you may need multaple treeguards,if a small one spawns it wont be enough to kill him. a large one is needed or multaple medium or small once.

Ah, I see.  Now, I'm normally not the kind to brag but Don't Starve is like, the only game I can say I'm really, really good at.  I think the longest I survived was like, over 100 days.  Like, erm... 120 something I think?  And I've also constructed the Telepotato and escaped within 20 days as well.

When I played Reign of Giants, I went through the whole Autumn and I didn't see a single giant, good too, because I would've been destroyed (you know those random farms? Yeah, that was it, just with some science buildings I made, no walls, I lived off of rabbits.

Rein of Giants is so fun, it added in so much stuff.  Yeah, I made it though the whole first year before I saw a giant, the first one I saw was on the second spring.  And yeah, taking advantage of pre-build areas is fun. Even better than the random farms is the occasionally fully equipped pig village.  I don't know if you've ever seen these before but sometimes you'll find pig villages that aren't like your normal ones, they have science machines and a crock pot and chests filled with important things (the one I found had a chest full of winter equipment and another with various weapons) and one I found even had a bird cage.  It's basically a fully developed base just LYING AROUND.  Though I think their really rare, I've only ever run into 2.  And one of them was on my nephew's file.

I once had a deerclops come to invade my main base, so I had to camp out in the frigid wilderness of winter. I later came back after setting up many more fire pits (winter-related) and found my machines, chests, walls and ice boxes to have been demolished. Darn you deerclops!

Whoa, to bad dude.  Stupid Deerclops!  In the case for this comic I got off easy, when I came back my base was still in one piece, but it had destroyed my pig village. I guess they acted as decoys for me.  Though in one Adventure mode file I had the stupid thing stalking me to the extent that I couldn't put down any breakable structure without it being destroyed by the end of the day.

If this was Minecraft I would use cheats and the deerclops would be struck to death by lighting.

It's murphy's law applied to video games.  Except that concept normally sticks to the fire emblem series.  Well, if you get all the murphy's law, maybe it won't spread to other people.  You're doing everyone else a good service by absorbing our bad luck.  Thank you.

I've had bad luck many, many times, but I've also had disgustingly good luck a few times.  Like getting a shiny Cyndaquil first try.  Or leveling up all of Soren's stats in one Level-up first try without save-state abuse.

Random luck is awesome, just like random bad luck sucks.  Hopefully the good comes as often the bad most of the time.

You have no idea how much I hate the hounds.  They scare the crap out of me.

JackXAngelicaforever In reply to purplemagechan [2013-08-20 17:54:08 +0000 UTC]

Same... I always pauze the game when I hear them for a few seconds, so I can release what is going to happen and prepare, then I just pick up my best weapon and armor and fight them. They are my moost hated monsters... D= Sometimes I just run to a tallbird and let THEM attack them or I just set them on fire when I can. You never know when they will attack you... And they always kill my baby Tallbird Woopy... =/ I know now how I always can find Chester, so I always have Chester and try to have a baby Tallbird, Woopy. I moostly do more tallbirds since I like them, and they are more easy for me to kill...

purplemagechan In reply to JackXAngelicaforever [2013-08-20 19:15:51 +0000 UTC]

How do you always get Chester?  I thought his bone was just randomly placed on the map and you have to find it.  Does it always generate in about the same place or something?

As for the hounds, other than the first few waves you should never fight the dogs yourself, they will outnumber and kill you.  Always.  You need to either lead them to some other mobs (pigs, beefalo, even aggressive mobs will work.) And get the other mobs to deal with them, or you need to make walls and traps around your base so you can just stand back and watch as they die trying to get to you.

When you follow the brick rodes they moostly leat to Chester... Atleast it always happends by me that way...

I don't even know how to make traps and the Piggy's never help me...

purplemagechan In reply to JackXAngelicaforever [2013-08-20 19:38:14 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that makes sense.  The brick roads also usually lead to a pig village for me.

The pigs should help as long as their not asleep.  You make traps out of the hounds teeth.

JackXAngelicaforever In reply to purplemagechan [2013-08-20 19:44:29 +0000 UTC]

Haha~! I see...

They are always asleep by me... -.-"

Hounds Teeth? I've never heard how to make a trap out of that... O.O

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

purplemagechan In reply to JackXAngelicaforever [2013-08-20 20:27:13 +0000 UTC]

That always happened to me to, the hounds would attack at night when not only can I not get the assistance of most mobs but I have limited light so I'm trapped around a dying fire pit until I kill them, they kill me, or I somehow manage to kite them until morning.

Hounds teeth + Wood Boards I think.  It's under combat I believe.  There called "Tooth Traps."  You can also make beemines as a trap.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JackXAngelicaforever In reply to purplemagechan [2013-09-01 11:44:04 +0000 UTC]

But... To make those traps you need to kill them... =/ I met Fire Hounds and Ice Hounds, and the Normal, Wolf Hounds... So yeah... But what they do? I dunno... They always sleep when I come to them, moostly around a scepter...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

purplemagechan In reply to JackXAngelicaforever [2013-09-01 15:13:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, we'll put it this way, if you see hounds around a scepter, DON'T pick up the scepter!  XD

But yeah, you should just fight off the first few waves entirely by yourself, than get a pig-village or something of the like started up within walking distance of your base so the pigs can handle everything.  If the pigs are asleep when the dogs come just kite them until morning if you don't think you can handle killing them on your own.  Once you've gone though enough waves to have lots of hounds teeth than you can start putting traps around your base so that if the dogs come in the middle of the night like that again you can just get them with traps.

Use Deerclops to you advantage to kill them wolves. Then proceed to flee again in hopes he does not give a damn anymore

purplemagechan In reply to tracender02 [2013-08-03 17:17:47 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, that's very good advice.  I've fond by this point that whenever the dogs attack to just hide where other mobs are and get them to fight the dogs for you.  Pigs work best, but you can even use spider dens or a swamp tentacle as well.  Then not only do you get rid of the dogs, you'll probably get some silk, tentacle spikes, extra meat, etc, etc.

That and the horrible things Maxwell puts you through.

What I gathered, you are forced to eat petals to survive sometimes.

And they spoil

That, my friend, is suffering.

And if you've ever seen the ending, Maxwell becomes a bit more sympathetic, but the ending is a bit frustrating and tragic after all you've been though.

You eat petals to restore heath, though in my opinion honey is much better for that, but if it comes to it flower petals may be the only thing to keep you alive.
