Sneak in at night. Always works for me.

Fun fact: if you want to finish the thieves' guild (if i'm correct; if not, it's anoher guild or the main quest) you NEED to steal the golden claw after giving it to Belethor or you just don't give it back to him when you first go it.

Not really sure about Skyrim (cause I haven't played it, yet), but I know in Oblivion, there are special merchants in the Thieveguild, who buy your stuff, which was stolen. But I have no Idea, if the same goes to Skyrim.

I'm like that too. Which is why I tend to leave things in the hands of an RNG. More fun that way.

This is a nice looking one. Also, coming from games like final fantasy where if you can find something, it belongs to you by right of you being the protagonist, the whole npc's actually owning stuff was a bit of a difference. Just gotta be stealthy. And I'm kinda surprised that there's nowhere to sell stolen stuff in skyrim. The only game with a similar ethics system that I've played made friendly thieve camps who would fence things for you, and if you maxed your mercantilism skill you could sell stolen stuff to anyone. Though I suppose from a gameplay perspective, making stolen stuff unsellable does add a extra thought process. Is it actually worth stealing this thing if it adds to your encumbrance, you might get caught, and if you can't use it or find something better it is useless?
Also, in he second panel, did you spell damage wrong intentionally? I guess the shopkeeper could have an accent or something, but I want to make sure.

I feel like there should be SOME way to fence your stolen goods. Though I agree with you, in video games I tend to not be the stealthy type. Usually the bad guys have better loot, and you have to kill them anyway, so why bother with sneaking around? Though I never played skyrim much. Maybe I should start a character just to be a thief as a kind of challenge run.
The guards actually remembering you is a nice, if frustrating, touch. I was playing one game where I got thrown in jail for a certain reason, busted my way out while killing every guard because they tried to stop me, spent a night at an inn out of town, came back the next day and nobody cared anymore. It made some sort of sense since it was a rather important city with quite a few quests in it, but it was rather anticlimatic. I mean, the game already had a bride feature to pay your way out of getting tossed out of jail. It would have made much more sense to use that, and maybe have the price gradually go down the longer you spend away as the guards stop caring as much. Would have made more sense, and been a bit more challenging which makes the player feel better. If everything is too easy, there's not much fun in playing.

Oh, I didn't know that! That's awesome! I also play with a needs mod. (I'm not sure if it's the exact same one as yours, but it's a mod that adds hunger/thirst/sleep) It adds so much! Not only does it add something else for you to worry about but it makes it so all that food that usually is just laying around and doesn't heal enough to even be worth taking has a purpose.

I seem to have less trouble stealing from people or sometimes even killing them than to steal from them or lie to them.
Even of they are just pixels and the likes.

Can you please reiterate? I don't quite understand. You have trouble stealing from people but you don't?

I've accidentally stolen a couple of things while trying to talk to the shopkeepers.
Also, there's been the accidental theft where they reply, "You're lucky that was just lying around there for the taking."
It's been pretty easy for me to tell if the money's someone else's or not, though...all I have to do is look and see whether the prompt says "Take" or "Steal" (the fact that the "Steal" prompt is in red helps).

Oh I can tell if the money is take-able or if it will be a 'steal' when you go to take it. I've actually been playing with a mod that adds hunger/thirst so I've been having a dandy time either finding every piece of food that is takable in every town, or sneakily trying to steal food. It adds so much to the game. There's so much food and drink in the game that are basically just decoration and don't heal enough to even be worth taking and so that just makes it so all that food has a use.

I'm still angry that he won't sell the golden claw. I wish to obtain it without using criminal actions

I always wondered what was up with the claws...sure, they open door and shit, but what if they're the feet of some Idol of Power or something?

Me too, me too! I end up wanting to take everything and having to go sell stuff over and over. And the shops eventually run out of gold so you have to go to multiple towns or wait for hours...

Honestly it might be the game's way of trying to tempt the player and then punishing you by getting the guards after you and thus teaching you that you can't steal.

That's actually a really good idea. I never thought of it that way.
I normally play as a thief, so if I do steal stuff, it won't be noticed. But it's always a pain if you do get caught and they take away everything that you stole.
Just a question, do you play on the PS3 or PC?

Like I said in my description. I've found that the best way of doing things is to only steal what you will actually use. And money is one of those. You have to be sneaking about it though. ^^

I know, who leaves there money just LAYING on the counter-top like that? Do they WANT bandits to steal it? Though granted this particular shop DID get robbed in the story-line. The first time you walk in it starts you on a quest to go find the stolen goods and bring them back.
