This is a challenge.

I'd love to see takes on the coloration of this near-avian dinosaur. You can be fanciful, exotic, political, or natualistic. Use your imagination! I continue to exhibit a form of colorblindness, thus tend to stray from color structure, so for the time being I'd leave this up to you guys, many of whom can see colors normally! This is offered free for download and modification, but I'd rather you not try to make money with this without me getting a cut. You may paint over the lines, erase them, or whatever, if you want to go somewhere else than this; you don't have to keep to this precise image. (I understand he's not exactly super exciting!)

I will note that there are some superficial similarities with this and, say, screamer ducks and the Rodriguez Is solitaire, but "Ingenia" was a theropod that shared its habitat with similar-sized or smaller predatory dinosaurs, alvarezsaurids, some larger herbivores/omnivores, smaller protoceratopsids and pachycephalosaurids, giant tyrannosaurs, sauropods, ankylosaurs, hadrosaurs, etc.

Edit: This isn't a contest, but I will try something: Depending on how many you guys make, I will select a few based on totally biased criteria of originality, imagination, and technical quality, will not reveal these criteria, and exhibit them on my blog and link these to your DA accounts/websites if you have them, etc. This can help increase publicity for you. Submit the images to me at my email - qi_leong AT hotmail DOT com - with a description of why you colored it *that way*, and I'll pour through them. There is no time limit, but I will pick a date to begin exhibition one, say, 7/7/2013, so roughly one month from now. This will give any of you lazy or super-technical artists time to get it done.
