Homework for LASALLE College of the Arts:Β It's that time of year again, when I need to plow through my dozens of files to organize my drawings into some sort of presentable order.
Designing family members and backstory characters when exploring Louis's motivations. Oh, and an older comic I never got around to colouring.

I wrote a strongly related historical fanfiction (with 100 chapters) myself - with France as the main character.

If I may, Louis's swearing at the end isn't quite french actually ( well, only for the second exclamation ) :
I guess you wanted to translate "how could you?!", right?
that's true, "comment pourriez-vous" is the right translation if you take word by word, but you can't say this in french, this isn't right
instead, you should have said : "comment avez-vous pu?!" or "comment avez-vous osΓ©?!" which is I think the best way to say it
well...that's it
however, I wish I could have such amazing drawing skills, expressions and faces are simply perfect, I love your style *-*

There's one thing about Louis I don't understand. If he had such a compatable lover, why did they break up, and why, having had a lover who was of a like mind as him, would Louis go for the Captain, who's very stern and Spartan?

I don't share that part of his story here, should I turn HAT into a graphic novel someday. Things don't work out, let's just put it that way. And his interest in James is less serious, more for fun. He's not expecting much more than a pursuit halfway across the Caribbean from him.

Great elaboration here on the characters. It's always enjoyable when creators go to great lengths to create back-stories for their characters-- it just adds more depth to them.

So awesome, its so cool to see more of Louis's family even if his father was an arse to him. But I love seeing these, Louis is such an amazing, deep, and intriguing character and I really like the 'slightly more realistic' versions of him too, those are wonderful. Keep up the fantastic work!

Most people in the 1600s were bilingual. I know that French was usually the language of royalty, and most educated people spoke it to some degree.

"Jacques" is the French equivalent of James (I know, you'd think it would be Jack, huh?)
Anyway, even though there's a few errors in the French, here's a rough translation:
"James, you pig! How could you? I'll kill you! You've ruined everything! I'll get you for this-- ARGH! I hate you! I--"

Very interesting. I must disagree slightly with you about your assessment of the sketches of Sebastian (row 3 - the row of heads - off to the right); I think I can see something of the character you intended Sebastian to have. Impulsive, somewhat smug (maybe rakish) and more than a bit "physical" as people go - always moving, very "in-your-face" when he wants something, and wears his mood(s) and emotions on his sleeve.
Am I anything close to right? Also - that comic made me

Excellent work, I love the dynamic between your characters. I've just marathoned your gallery, and I must say...you're awesome ! And I love your sense of humour !
But as a french, there are a few incorrect things :
"Jacques, espèce de porc, comment avez-vous pu ?! Je vais vous tuer ! Vous avez tout gaché ! J'irais vous chercher pour cette....Agh, je vous déteste !"
I keeped the "vous" instead of the "tu", I assumed that they're not enough intimate to speak with the "tu"...I am right ?
Moreover, about the "J'irais vous chercher pour [Γ§ela]", this is correct but not really appropriate given the context...
I'll propose "Vous payerez pour Γ§a !" (traduction:" You're going to pay for this !")
"Vous me revaudrez Γ§a !" (traduction: quite the same^^)
"Vous ne vous en sortirez pas comme Γ§a !" (traduction: "You won't get out easily")
"Vous ne perdez rien pour attendre !" (traduction : "just you wait !" but with an old way of telling)
