I don’t normally like to make this kind of art, at least not these days. Initially I tried to give this a more detailed background with stuff and things everywhere[as with a lot of things as of late], but then I felt it busied the image too much and would put it off-balance… conceptually, at least. I mean this is sorta meant to be one of those more metaphorical images where it mainly illustrates how the subject is feeling, and when I tried to incorporate detailed objects (shelves, books, things) it appeared to sorta… clash. I was afraid to do a background like this because recently I’ve been trying to break out of this habit of making really pretty and detailed subjects with meager backgrounds and focus on drawing perspective in the same process. Maybe it’s just me, but I couldn’t make it work in this case.... yeah.

This thing was a big headache for a while, and I’m still not particularly happy with the end result as a whole, but I worked too hard on that girl [and her horrible fucking violin] to just scrap it.

>.> Shut up your work is always pretty! You should be pleased with this one too anyway because that background does th e picture itself justice. (I should note, drawing characters actually PLAYING instruments and holding them correctly is HARD as such, I'm sure you're aware that people in perspective in the meantime is another challenge on top of that (WHICH STUPID VIOLINS REQUIRE ;_; )) You might, if you want to revisit this (which I dont blame you if you dont) want to look at her hand holding the bow. It doesnt seem right to me.. I dunno tho. She could be beating the hell out of the violin from the looks of it. Her gorgeous dress seems lost in the background... ;_; I love your usual details but the color washes it out for me... le-sigh. Even so.. This is one of my favorite pieces of yours... just because of the subject <3

Thank you very much xD You're very right, but if I do revisit this, it probably wont be for a while, and even then it'd be a different picture completely. I will hold onto this advice though because I actually want to draw more instruments later. It's a big pain in the ass as far as perspective goes, but there was an odd sense of rewarding when I finished. (Even if I'm wrong with the perspective of the violin, sticking to it and getting this close was great

I love the detail, and I can't begin to imagine how long this took you! This may be a stupid question, but I'm guessing this was made using digital media?
And that violin was worth the trouble... it looks really good!
This is way better than I could have done, and no offence to my dear friends, but I don't think they could achieve this standard of art... but they may suprise me.
