Perspective of any sort is NOT. MY. FORTE.Oh god it's so horrible....
I don't really like a lot of anime, as I think I've mentioned before, but occasionally something I see will catch my attention, and if I get curious enough, I'll invest some time in it. In this case I've gotten into Soul Eater because I was curious about the character Crona, a rather androgynous, lithe and flimsy character with the most epic derp face
Despite being an emotional cluster-fuck myself, I don't normally get weepy-eyed when it comes to fictional characters, let alone anime....
And Crona broke that trend so hard.
So yeah, this is kinda a homage to her (Crona has no official gender, but I've assigned her the her pronoun because your life is meaningless and someday everyone you know and love will die.)
I re-did Ragnarok's face a little because I hate it. Tried to make the X more scar-ish and asymmetrical because it makes me laugh. Also aimed for something cute/creepy for his smaller-self. It's not perfect, but I definitely wanna draw this character more, so maybe I'll improve on that with time.
And.... perspective..... FUUUUUUUCK.....

Also, I'm guessing you're probably watching the English dub of the anime, but get this! Crona's japanese voice actor....is also the same voice actor of Ciel Phantomhive! (and is still a chick *grin*)

I actually watched the sub xDD I like Crona's voice in that one more, and usually I think the original actors to any animation (FMA is a notable exception) do the parts better.

I've looked for official statements, but I can't find any :c Plus I find it amusing how rabid some people can get over her gender; specifically those claiming she's male. As if the idea that she might be female would shatter the very foundation of their world.
And I might have had some SaladFingers-based inspiration creep in there xD

No, neither the manga nor Okubo Atsushi have confirmed Crona's sex. I know some people use this page in ch 60 [link] as an indication of Crona being female, but its just Okubo baiting the fans for the umpteenth time. In ch 68, Black*Star mistakes Crona for being male [link] and Okubo baits us again [link] If we ever get to find out, it won't be 'til the very end, because he's gonna want to keep this running joke for as long as he can.
Even in very recent interviews, Okubo is standing by with his statement of "Even I don't know Crona's gender." Unless you can point to a page in the manga that explicitly states Crona's sex, nothing is confirmed (a "girly" pose in manga means nothing these days; he's teasing us). To prevent confusion, Funimation decided to use male pronouns for Crona, but again, nothing's confirmed. Personally, I don't care which sex Crona is; it wouldn't change anything about the character, really. Crona is still going to be a confused, abused, and awesome character.
You can interpret Crona whichever way you want, but keep in mind that just because you think Crona's a girl doesn't make it canon. Wait for Okubo to tell us first before you start telling people that Crona is a girl, because right now, its not true at all.

THAT'S actually mostly what I heard so far, and I can appreciate that for what it is; hell, I find it awesome that the author would say that. Just personally for me the character is more feminine than masculine, thus I apply the "she" pronoun.
Is it that important? I don't think so, BUT it's a hotly debated topic amongst many fans, and as such I feel it might be necessary to specify why I personally chose to do that.

I'm sorry to have misinformed. I remember them stating something in the anime (haven't read the manga and I don't remember what episode) that Crona was a girl. So that's what I thought and didn't look further into it because I didn't feel a need. Thanks for letting me know that it's still a mystery though.

Ah, I know which misconception you're talking about. Some of the subs (which are done by amateurs, not professional translators) translated one of Medusa's lines as "Crona is my daughter," even though Medusa's actual line uses a gender neutral word for "my child" 実の子 (jitsunoko) instead of "daughter" 娘 (musume). Several of them picked a gender to make the translations less awkward, since the English language doesn't have an appropriate gender-neutral pronoun. Many of the subs went with female pronouns, while Funimation went with male pronouns.

Hah, thanks! Admittedly I have a weakness for gigantic, cartoony eyes xD for me they just seem to emphasize on emotion, especially hysteria.
