The entire Ghost in the Shell franchise is usually the first answer I can think of when people ask me "What Anime do you like?", it was kind of my first real introduction into dystopian futuristic Sci Fi (granted, a lot of the original movie flew by my 14-year-old head.) and it's been impervious to my growth as a critic over the years. To this day I still draw a lot of inspiration from it in my work.I rewatch S.A.C. and 2nd Gig once in a blue moon, and it's been really nice to have something new to look forward to with the "prequel" ARISE. It's pretty fun to see the team/characters in a premature state. :d

And I've gotta admit the one and only originalΒ Ghost in the ShellΒ is one of my top half dozen movies up there with Wings of Honnemeise, Patlabor 2 and Princess Mononoke.Β Each superb in it's own right!Β

Good piece dude, a nice action scene indeed. The main thing I think that could've been improved upon design wise would be to make better use the shattering glass by placing more of it flying up and perhaps adding some flying under the tank so it implies the front feet also broke some glass.
The color pallet over all has a soft power look to it, while the chars does but it goes together quite well. Good job.

Wait...they're doing another prequel? How prequelly is this prequel?
SAC is already the earliest point in the timeline...is it before then? Yeesh. I hope if they ever make a sequel movie to the second film, they ditch the ham fisted philosophising and get back into writing, you know...a plot.

Brilliant piece of work ! I would say Ghost in the shell is also one of my most favorite animes. I really like the Stand alone complex series over the movies.

arise is going a whole nother direction because they cant relive old glories, unfortunatly, but leave it to the japanese to revive series nearly 10 years later and actually capture the same look and feel. arise will be different, but I am for that than a reiteration of something they cant recreate.

Great stuff. I love the cool color scheme here, it fits so well with the feel of the series (and the original version of the film). Diving into SAC for the first time over the last week. Really enjoying it. Keep up the great work!
