"I'll leave the ocean behind~"This image has been on my mind lately and i've just been itching to draw it..really bad.
I drew this to just calm me down and relieve my stress (.. but i ended up getting more stressed, bah) and i needed to practice drawing animals and backgrounds anyway. I tried to capture the feeling in aquariums, y'know that wondrous, filled with awe feeling? Yeah, dunno how well that turned out.
There's just something about the ocean that fascinates me, maybe it's the fact that it may seem bland from the surface but deep down below it's filled so much life. I'm terrified with the concept of ever swimming there though, so i'll just happily stick to aquariums and drawing it.
... oh and i doubt a whale would ever swim that close to the corals and all, but let's just imagine lol

Took about 3 days, 6-7 hrs a day.
All done on Photoshop CS3

EDIT;;; fixed the dome.. i don't know why the quality looks bad on DA T__T. So just full view it <3

Vision: This is a nicely composed piece! I really like the overall idea, with bright colors, all in various shades of blue, and having the girl stare up at the whale. Very nice concept and visualization. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/n/n⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
Originality: I definitely haven't seen a picture like this before. You managed to capture all the awe of an aquarium with ease, along with really the awe of the ocean and all that's in it. I don't see many pictures that manage to pack in so much detail in this way - very nicely and originall-y (?) done. : D
Especially the dome shape. It seems small, but impressive. I don't know. Just never seen a dome-aquarium exactly like that. o.o
Technique: Dang. I mean, wow. Just wow. You got some skill. The coloring is magnificent, the detail is stunning, really everything.
Except one thing - the dome's iron... Whatever you'd call them. At the top, the way they curve, it's really hard to tell what direction they curve in. Honestly, to me it looks more like they're curving outwards instead of inwards. I suggest less light on the inside, as the light source is really from the outside, not the inside.
Impact: I think I've sufficiently covered this in the above? xD I love this - It's really quite a stunning piece, very well executed.
