Description This is Sierra, my miniature dachshund puppy. Many people have been shocked upon seeing her, never before knowing that dachshunds can come in Sierra's pattern (double-dapple, called merle in some other breeds such as Australian shepherds).

I like when she's asleep. It makes her easier to deal with XD j/k. She's wonderful.

Health-related note: Be careful in your decision to purchase a double-dapple dachshund. Although the coat is gorgeous and exotic, it is not rare (don't let pet shops and irresponsible breeders fool you!). Furthermore, such dogs can be born with congenital issues such as vision and hearing problems, which in some cases can be complete blindness and/or deafness. I was already well aware of this upon getting Sierra, and I did not get her from a pet shop/irresponsible breeder/etc. I actually received her from a friend of the family who made the foolish mistake of never spaying/neutering her dogs (but has since fixed them).

These issues are even more likely to exist if the white in the coat falls over the eyes and ears and if the dog has blue eyes. REMEMBER THAT.

If you must have a double-dapple but fear the chance of visual and hearing problems, please be given evidence that the dog has been CERF certified and/or you can get your money back (or return the dog) if you have the testing done. In my case, Sierra has microphthalmia, but I am willing to deal with her problem. I don't think any less of her for having a defect. It's her personality that struck me above all.

Also remember that you can still have a lifelong, warm relationship with a disabled dog. It simply means having more supervision over him/her, being more patient with training, and acknowledging his/her limitations.

She is very sweet, and props on putting out all the info too! It is important that people realize this, but I just have to add that if you are set on having a double-dapple and furthermore are willing to help a disabled dog, there are many of them out there in rescue that NEED homes. People often get this type of dog based solely on looks unaware of the medical issues involved, and decide to get rid of them rather than work through them. She is precious <3 and sounds lucky to have you!
