Description This is a first of many things for me! As you can see, this is my debut art to this website. In addition, it's also my first attempt at using Photoshop (or any image editing program). That said, I think I did well?

Anyway... this is a promotion art for my Pokemon fanfic [link] >"Eclipsed". It stars Arei, a miraculous young woman, who is chosen as the priestess of Mewtwo. This violates the laws of her people, the worshipers of Mew... and throughout the conflict, there is growing tension as to her significance. Yet worse, her power is threatening to Mewtwo's consort: Sabrina.

Anyway, I realize the staircase is sloppy -- sorry about that. The reason is because they were all natural-looking stone in the sketch, but I never got around to lining them and thus... yeah, uneven smooth stairs instead XP

Oh... and a HUGE thank you to [link] >[emo shaman] as he is known on DeviantArt, and Garth as he is known to me. His patience in teaching me Photoshop, combined with his touching up of my linework and his assistance in drawing Mewtwo, are all much appreciated. He's a fantastic teacher and artist, so please look at his work

as she looked up at the night sky she could remember her two old friends looking back at her through the moons gaze

This is a really cool concept! Honestly not one I've ever even considered haha~ I really like the way you did the backgrounds in the images of Mew & Mewtwo up top. And the stairs honestly aren't all that bad. The perspective might be off a little, but I like the uneven style of lineart for them; it gives it some texture. You did pretty well for your first digital painting, I think :]

Oh, I don't know, the stairs look nicely stone to me. Maybe a little stone-like texturing would help the look along, though that's for next time.

It's because Garth is TEH PHOTOSHOPZ MASTA. Seriously. He took a Photoshop course in college... and knew more than his instructor and even taught his instructor some things. WTF.

He's a really good teacher

And thanks! I enjoyed working on it!

This is REALLY good, Val, and not just for a first-time photoshop. I especially love the colors/designs in Arei's kimono and Mew's background! With the stairs, did you intend to give them a rough texture? They kind of remind me of Mayan temple stairs.

... By the way, I HAVE read "Suicide Blonde" and part of "Eclipsed," just haven't reviewed. ;_; You can kick me if you want.

Thank you very much!

The sun and flower designs on Arei's kimono are symbolic to her tribe; I wanted to incorporate that important aspect of her. As for the colors, Garth was the one to suggest that the kimono be a soft blue. I'm glad I went with it.

As for the stairs, yes, I did intend to give them a rough texture. In the sketch, the risers were different sized stones. But you're right -- in this version there is a Mayan feel to it, and that actually works very well considering the context of the story.

...wut... you... you read but didn't review... GAH. I would kick you BUT you're too nice, so I'll just kick a random mudkip instead.

Nice, Val! Finally, some artwork for "Eclipsed"! It makes me wish I had photoshop, ^^. I'm looking forward to more, both of the art and the chapters.

Hope you're having a good day. See ya'.

Love the picture, but one problem - YOU FORGOT THE EEVEE HO-OH'S MAJESTIC WINGS! D=

XD No, really, I do like this picture..The drawing itself was very well done, and you picked up on photoshop quite well. I'm quite impressed at how well you learned how to use the program in such short amount of time and pull off the picture this well. Good color contrasts in the picture with the darkness of the sky and the effect around Mew/Mewtwo. Love the kimono and thanks for taking my color suggestion for it! Looking forward to seeing more art from you, and I think you're ready to tackle your next project without all my help. Word of advice- BE PATIENT and take time on the lines, cuz I won't always be there to fix them for you. But, you're a great artist, so keep up with the good work!

But Miki isn't the MAJESTIC EEVEE HO-OH. She's just a cute fluff-fluff ;;

Well, thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me learn the program. I know you said you're not the best teacher, but actually you are. I learn best by having things shown - rather than explained - and then the sequence being reinforced. You did that, and I wouldn't have been able to learn Photoshop otherwise unless I experimented myself.

I'll be more patient with the lines

Thanks for everything, kitten. Thank you especially for returning to me my love for art. It's a gift which I have long ignored, but I'm happy to have it part of my life again

Well, I'm glad that I was able to teach you Photoshop in a way you understood..Looking forward to teaching you more about it in the future.

I know what it's like to keep from doing my art, and it sucks badly..I'm glad that I was able to bring back your desire for it, cuz you really are talented! I hope you keep up with drawing, because you really are very good at it, and I'd love to see more of what you can do! ..And you still owe me a Darkrai picture.
