Description
The final piece made for a local exhibition, and perhaps the most personal, based upon a relationship which at least until recently was pretty toxic and left me feeling controlled, used and trapped. So this creature is a mass of tentacles and tendrils, forever growing outwards in all directions, spreading its’ influence everywhere it goes. Many of these appendages end in eyes, perpetually watching its’ ever growing domain. It dons the colour purple, as that is a colour I associate with control (Thank you, Jessica Jones).

Control is a very dangerous beast. It reaches out everywhere and if it catches you in its’ grip, it feels like there’s no escape. Its’ grip is strong and leaves you completely under its’ power, and with its’ many eyes, it can leave you feeling like it’s always watching, further negating escape. But it is possible to escape its’ grasp, by confronting it and addressing it head on. By continuously laying and maintaining boundaries, its’ grip will withdraw, but if these boundaries are not maintained, the tentacles will come searching again...
