"A Mended Rhyme" (1997), acrylics on illustration board, 60 x 60 cm / 23,4 x 23,4 in.frontcover illustration for the CD "A Mended Rhyme" by Swedish metal band TAD MOROSE (Black Mark Production)
I just received the lyrics and titles from the band, since they had no idea at all how to visualise their stuff. The storyline of the title song seemed very X-files inspired to me.

So I came up with this illustration here… and they liked it...

Here's another piece of artwork I've been checking out for quite some time... Always wondered what was written on the tombstone.
So Tad Morose let you devise the whole scene on your own? I'd say your idea fitted the album pretty well. The 3 first tracks at least.

on the tombstone is the name "Brian"....
the whole artwork concept was by me... I just got lyrics from the band, and the text for the letter for the backcover^^

I'm under the impression that the movie "Flatliners" was a source of inspiration here (at least for the bas-relief on the right arch and the character sitting on the floor).
Odd how that movie apparently caught the attention of the metal community in the 90's.

Love those lyrics, and I think you really interpreted them very well in this piece. I never heard of the band (mainly because I'm not really into music), but I'd be pretty happy if I got a hand on that CD with this illustration. I'll be like a raging fangirl 
Well, I could definately see this painting in a haunted house! I mean, it's not scary, but it definately gives off that haunted house vibe

Hi,
it was painted on illustration board (SCHOELLERSHAMMER 4 G), it's like a paper with a very smooth surface, but approx. 50 times thicker, so you can't fold or roll it...
the soft shades of colour have been made by airbrush...

Very cool piece. I like the attention to detail, as well as the color and lighting scheme. The panels high on the walls are cool, too... This'll make a great cover.

this one is very detailed! I love everything about it, especailly the angels and the two little pictures on the walls ^-^
Overall it gives off a weird feeling, like the statues and the ghosts kinda creep me out, but then i feel a sense of peace from the light ahead, crazyness
