Description

According to Google, someone who scratches a lot is not an accepted definition of 'scratchy'. But it was the best idea I had for the picture, so I'm ignoring what Google says!

From how collected she usually is and how quickly she charmed most of them, it wouldn't be unfair to assume that Bastet hit it off with the puppies right from the start: that was, however, not quite the case. A lone cat finding herself in an alley surrounded by dogs, even if most of them were young... Bastet was very panicky and scratchy and fighty at first, trying to make herself enough of a threat that they'd all leave her alone. August rose to the challenge to wrestle her to the ground, taking a few scratches herself in the process - since this was their spot that she'd wandered into thanks - and it was only when she'd managed that and the other puppies clustered around to reassure Bastet that they weren't going to hurt her that the feline started to realise how she could use the situation - and them - to her advantage.

I feel like I overworked this picture a bit, it feels a bit messy, too much going on with a) the shading, b) the characters standing too close together (*coughAMBERcough*) and c) the relative proportions. But I had the posing how I felt it worked and didn't want to erase a lot of it to try again, so... it is what it is! I still think it's mostly okay, just... could have used a little less detail in the wrong places xD

And then tomorrow's is a prompt that I've been looking forward to since I started this Inktober; so here's just hoping I can do justice to the idea I have in mind for it! ^^

Bastet, August, Cinnamon and Amber are my own characters; any similarity to other people, real or fictional, is completely unintentional and coincidental.

Bastet's design by Zee-Stitch and August's by Soft-Spots ; who I respectively adopted them from.

Artwork and story are mine: please, no using without permission.
