Description Now seemed like a good time to clear out some of the old pictures that I've started work on and never finished. I have a number of them hanging around that I started; and then either lost the drive to finish, or else got distracted by another project. Most of these have lines done and cleaned, and the majority of colouring done, and just needed the detailing / shading / finishing to be done before they were ready - and what better time to clear them all out than the very end of the year, so that I can start over more or less fresh for 2018?

It must have been... back in July apparently, if the date on the file is to be believed, that Gamerfeline suggested to me that I could draw an otter, when I wasn't sure what to turn my artistic efforts to next. I got pretty far along on this picture at the time, having the lining, colouring and and fur detailing all done; and then, for some reason, I just... stopped there. It might have been that I just wasn't sure what to do with the background - and previous pictures of mine show, believable looking water is NOT my forte - but in any case...

I decided it was finally time to finish this guy! As my natural art style draws on Disney-style a lot - whether I want it to or not, at this point! - I turned to a couple of scenes from Disney movies to get a feel for how to make water that looks like it works with animated-style characters. I'm still not 100% happy with the result, but I also wasn't going to get anything better than this right now. I'm going to do some more research on the subject before I try drawing water again, I think xD

Artwork is mine; no using without permission, please.

I love the fur textures and the detailing in the water! All of your color choices here are so soft and lovely.

Ah, thank-you! I seem to remember that the fur texture took ages to do, but I think you're right; the end result was worth the time ^^
