I am, admittedly, not altogether satisfied with the background here; but I am also genuinely at a loss for how to make it look any better. What I really want is one of those 'oceany-rippley-underwatery' effects , where the water looks like it's moving and the rays of light are shining through and it looks all cool. However, while I could find plenty of instruction on how to make that effect for a still picture, I discovered nothing whatsoever on replicating that sort of effect in 2D animation.

And my passion, really, is character animation, so I certainly couldn't figure it out on my own xD

I guess consider this a temporary background? If I find a way to make it look better, I'll replace and reupload it.

Anyway, I did most of the work on this a while ago. suggested it as an idea some months back; we visited an otter sanctuary when she stayed with me over here last year, and she suggested I try and replicate some of the fluidity with which they had moved through the water. It's been sort of an on-and-off background project ever since; and in fact, it's been sitting almost done except the background for ages now. I finally decided that, since I wasn't going to get any further with that part of it - a background artist I am not - I wanted to just upload it as-is.

This is the first of my animation pieces to be done entirely digitally; no traditional-media sketch process, I just drew it straight in Photoshop and worked from there. Cutting out those in-between stages was... immensely satisfying; and also made the colouring process a lot simpler, too, when I was working with much cleaner digital lines.

Anyway, I'm rambling now. So, I will shut up and let you look at the gif xD
