Venom 13" X 18"The Venom Symbiote is a sentient alien that bonds with humans to survive and in return it endows enhanced powers (and turns them psychotic). My girls have been excited about this piece. It was inspired by a Chris Oz Fulton drawing, I had to redraw it to clarify the muscles, change the face and add the gooey tendrils. I also studied several images of Venom to get the colorization right. As with my other wood pieces, the image was drawn onto a pine board, cut out with a scroll saw, shaped with a Dremel tool, painted with acrylics and added shading and highlights with spray paint. This was a fun piece to design and build.

Thank you for the comment on Venom. I started out with art I found on the internet (gave credit to the artist), did some research to enhance his muscles, changed the head, and had to check out several Venom pics to figure out the tendrils. It was a lot of fun to design and make. It gets a lot of comments at conventions. Checked out your FaceBook link, you are pretty creative. It fascinates me how artist use different materials to make characters that are instantly recognizable.

Thank you for your comment on Venom. My girls were excited about this piece and can't wait for me to do Deadpool. I have one more Venom that I am thinking of working on, it will be based on artwork from chasingartwork who I found on DA. My next piece will be Holly Short from the Artemis Fowl novels and then I will be doing either IronMan or Alien. Talk to you later, Don

Thank you for your comment on my Venom. I agree, he needs to be in more movies, especially when his appearance in Spiderman 3 really didn't count because the whole movie was stupid. Hopefully Marvel will bring him back in a movie he deserves, not sharing the spotlight with other villains. I plan on doing another Venom by chasingartwork who I also found on DA, but his artwork will be much harder to replicate in wood...but I do love a good challenge. Talk to you later, Don

I have always enjoyed Venoms appearances in Spiderman. I love the backstory where Venom's costume was originally a replacement for Spiderman's designed by a Spidey fan as a self healing suit, then Marvel bought the idea from him and took it further. I have one more picture of Venom by chasingartwork, who I also found on DA...I just have to figure out how to do it since the artwork is so expressionistic, but it looks awesome.
