Description "Humility isn't a weakness, it reflects a great understanding and strength." - Charles F. Stanley

Pride =/= self respect.

Humility shows no need for validity, acceptance, praise, acknowledgement. If you truly believe the the path you walk, and who you are, all these become unnecessary; you have no need for pride. You have no need to demand the acceptance of others, because you have acceptance of yourself. Humility shows a sureness and steadfastness with a firm rooting that does not require validation from others, and they will respect you for it.

You cannot demand respect. You earn it. You earn it by being respectable.

I've probably linked these before at some point, but [link] [link] [more soon maybe.]

They already exist, as "religious processions" such as in Catholic Poland, Buddhist Thailand, and Muslim Iran (e.g. Ashura).

When it comes to humility, I personally believe that it takes courage and strength to admit you're wrong, rather to turn up your nose at anyone who points it out. Just my 2 cents.

Humility is VERY underrated. If we all had more of it, we would likely get along better as a whole.

It is so very hard to convince people of that simple fact.Β  Tolerance can be legislated to a point.

Respect cannot - it must be earned.

So simple, yet so difficult.

Being born is just the start to earning respect.

Then again, if here wasn't any homophobics in this world "pride" wouldn't be needed as much.

Pride is one of the seven deadly sins but I honestly think it sould be replaced with vanity. the right kind of Pride, and humility can go together: you can be proud your an American but you don't have to say anything to anyone about it. I'm proud abotu many things but I usually don't tell anyone about them or demand anything for my services. (I'm not saying I'm an angel I've sought reward too occasionally)

I think what they mean by Pride, they mean Hubris (extreme pride). But I get what you mean.

I know some people who think humility means that you aren't allowed to have a high opinion of yourself and or achieve, but when you have humility you won't have the need of someone else approval because you already think to highly of yourself to need it.

I was such a bitch back at 13, constantly seeking attention. Now I'm on the path to fixing it. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.

I agree. There's nothing wrong with being proud of who you are, but your pride should outweight your self respect or recalling that you're not perfect. And I don't mean that in a bad way Imperfection is the most normal thing in the world.
