What you get in a place where everyone is considered an "artist" (dA).Inspired by this [link]
I remember there was a time when only the artistically talented were considered artists, now every self-indulgent attention whore with a camera and a computer are "artists".
The truth is, not everyone is an artist. Not everything that is made, is art.
What IS art? It's the most debated topic on dA, but here are some examples:
Art: Canvas painting that took several days worth of effort, creativity and talent to create. A photograph taken at just the right moment, with a tripod and all the correct settings, that the photographer spent hours waiting for.
Not art: Cell phone camera snap of crayola crayons in a circle, your Converse-clad feet in some leaves, or a scribbled message on lined paper that took about 5 seconds worth of thought and effort.
In my opinion, art requires talent, effort, creativity, time and patience to produce - not one self-gratifying steaming shit after another for pageviews and points.

Yeah, I'm far from an artist. Sure what I draw takes a long time, but it's hardly ever good. At least I try though

Art doesn't require talent. Talent helps, but what really matters is a hell of a lot of effort. Effort will get you places talent can't, and with enough effort, you can overcome a lack of talent. Try hard, be creative, think outside the box. If you're having trouble being creative, do some creativity exercise. Use the Random Page button on Wikipedia three times, and try to come up with a way to integrate what you get into a single image! Take some shitty cell phone camera snaps of random scenes and then try to draw specific details from them by hand! Do some style and color scheme memes!
It's actually pretty hard. That's the fun of it!

I always go on the definition that art is the expression of an idea, therefore everything can be considered art. Whether or not that art is actually good remains to be seen.

this stamp is also art and each comment is also art, it is different for each individual we all regard art differently, otherwhise all the comments on this stamp would be the same, we are all different! thats why abstract is popular since invention of the camera.
Everyone express their work in their own way, that doens't mean everyone is an artist. Some consider it a hobby. its actually about expressing yourself, not only being the best and to fit in. You cant take away someone's passion. Its not about striving to be an artist. (one of the talented ones ) If your an artist you should know every person expresses their art differently and you must learn to accept that.

I'm sorry, but the word "art" does not necessarily mean that it's good. Just because something has had tonnes of effort does not mean that it's any less "art" than a quick computer drawing. Heck, even a stamp like this, with you expressing what you feel, is still art in that regard.
Art is not a measure of quality.
"Art", good or bad, is a way of expressing yourself. If that means a doodle on a page, or a five-minute sketch of you eating a sandwich, then whether you like it or not, whether the anatomy is rubbish or whether the photo quality is poor, it is still art.
Nearly every person who joins this website do so because they want to express themselves. So I'm sorry but I completely disagree. Everyone here is an artist. There's nothing you can do about it.

I consider my self to be a semi artist... Is my art Great, No lol I wont lie I think half my Crap sucks, but looking back at my bow legged cross eyed uneven boobed people and my lopsided dogs... I think I'm doing better... But i still have a long way to go until i make anything worth being called Art, And no im not afraid to say My stuff Sucks turtle shells.

Everything is art, actually, as long as you think it is. If someone thinks my ass is art, it is art to them. Big deal. To me, art is something with a story to tell. Yes, I do favourite stuff on DA just because I think it looks good, but I do in fact not think that it is in any way art. There is a big difference between someone who draws well and an artist. I am neither, what am I even doing on this site?
But that's just my opinion.

I'm kind of a wanna-be artist.
I do take time and try to put effort into my drawings most of the time but I really lack talent to create anything good.
