Description This is a painting of one of the lovely and talented 's deviations. You can find the reference photo here: [link]
She was kind enough, long ago, to give me permission to paint it. This one is watercolour, 6" by 9".

I should get just about caught up on messages this evening - I'm using my wife's computer while mine is in the shop, and her study kind of gives me the creeps.

Thanks very much! That one didn't last very long - I had it hung literally for about ten minutes. When I saw the reference photo, I just knew I had to have a go at it.

Amazing!! All your paintings are wonderful!

I guess that is what my baby [link] would look like if she had both eyes -

Thank you so much! This one is probably my favourite cat painting; I like painting for fun because I can take risks a little more as far as highlights and stuff.

These cats are beautiful <3
I think they're the best looking and ,ost interesting cats.
You also did a really good job on this, the eyes are perfect.
Almost... hypnotizing..

Thank you so much! I'm really proud of thsi one; I think I like painting siamese more than the other varieties of cat. THere's just something kind of mysterious/cool about them.

Thanks very much! This one was pretty popular - I really liked painting it; I kind of wish it had stayed around the gallery a little longer, but it was bought right away after I put it on the wall.

And I suppose there's nothing stopping me from painting it again. I keep forgetting that!

Damn, that was clever. I didn't think that far myself

If I paint something I really like, there's a real temptation to not sell it, but I try to remind myself that this is my job and I can always do it again.

Elaihr In reply to RamonaQ [2007-11-22 07:16:50 +0000 UTC]

Guess you have to think like that, or else you'll end up sitting in a corner, hugging your paintings ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RamonaQ In reply to Elaihr [2007-11-26 06:43:20 +0000 UTC]

I definitely have more art than space at home. I don't know what I'd do if I wasn't selling it!

Elaihr In reply to RamonaQ [2007-11-29 15:06:12 +0000 UTC]

Hm, maybe you could cover all your walls with your artwork, haha ^^ There's a house in this town which is completely filled with paintings, you can't see the walls at all, looks pretty funny..

Actually, that sounds pretty cool... One day I must take a tour of Scandinavia.

Elaihr In reply to RamonaQ [2007-12-04 11:53:24 +0000 UTC]

You should, Scandinavia's nice Guess it would be cooler for me to go to Australia or something though, since I already know this place pretty well..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RamonaQ In reply to Elaihr [2007-12-06 10:15:04 +0000 UTC]

I keep trying to talk my wife into taking a trip to Australia, but she's afraid of all the beasties. She seems to think the place is covered with poisonous creatures. I've tried to explain that it's just from her watching too much telly.

Aaaw, how stupid, my mum's like that too! I actually think Sweden's worse, we have mooses for god's sake, mooses which get drunk or something by eating apples. Isn't that a bit more dangerous? Should be.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RamonaQ In reply to Elaihr [2007-12-22 00:45:19 +0000 UTC]

I can see the headlines! Drunken Mooses on the Rampage in Sverige! Sounds awfully dangerous to me! I guess most people haven't seen a moose up close, but I have, and I can say that they're pretty huge guys!
I got a gift from Sweden today, and it came wrapped in a newspaper. I sat down and "read" the paper. Apparently, I can get a nice little house in Sweden for just a couple million Kroner

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elaihr In reply to RamonaQ [2008-01-15 17:25:24 +0000 UTC]

A gift? Was the newspaper the gift or was it whatever was in the newspaper? You made me curious now, you better tell

Haha, oh yes I bet you can, are you going to get one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RamonaQ In reply to Elaihr [2008-01-15 22:38:35 +0000 UTC]

No, the newspaper was the wrapping for a drawing I received from one of your countrymen. Well, countrygirl, I guess. I still keep the newspaper around because it's so interesting. I noticed that if I think hard enough, I can figure out some of the words here and there...
I wish I could! I bet it's a great place to live. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elaihr In reply to RamonaQ [2008-01-17 13:41:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh, sounds interesting What drawing was it? And yes, I've noticed I can figure quite a lot out from Dutch texts, which is pretty interesting, because it's a new language to me. I never really thought of studying English like that though, since I've taken English classes in school for so long..

It would be nice if you did come and live here, this country could do with another great artist

Might I ask you how you've been doing since I last was online (which was ages ago)?

sent me this: [link] ^_^ I imagine she's never seen an actual armadillo.
I've been doing pretty well - the holidays went very well at the gallery (I was able to get Pepper a Jacuzzi for Christmas!). Unfortunately, January looks like it's going to be a very slow month. D: I only have three commissions I'm working on right now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elaihr In reply to RamonaQ [2008-01-21 11:37:30 +0000 UTC]

A jacuzzi!? That sounds terribly expensive to me. And that armadillo was pretty cute to be honest..

RamonaQ In reply to Elaihr [2008-01-21 17:23:43 +0000 UTC]

I got a really good deal on the jacuzzi, but it's soooo nice! She keeps going out there when it's really cold; I'm a big chicken, myself...

Elaihr In reply to RamonaQ [2008-02-01 18:00:49 +0000 UTC]

It's an outdoors jacuzzi? Awesome! Wouldn't like to have it here right now though, the weather's being really crazy, windy and rainy, and when I went by bicycle it felt like someone was hitting me in the face, not the most nice of experiences..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RamonaQ In reply to Elaihr [2008-02-03 11:16:21 +0000 UTC]

Apparently, northern Europe is having a rough winter! I don't mind the jacuzzi when it's cold, but if it's raining, it's no fun.

Elaihr In reply to RamonaQ [2008-02-07 10:56:22 +0000 UTC]

Ouch, rain, it's been a while since I last saw that.. Everything's just grey and boring, it would've been more fun if it was raining, but seems like I'll have to remain bored

Thank you very much! I seem to be most comfortable with watercolour - it just seems to come pretty naturally to me.
I'm quite impressed by your gallery as well - you've got an amazing hand with pastels, and your pencil work is incredible.

The painting is wonderful, and reminds me of my cat growing up a blue point Siamese that was so smart he loved to play hide and seek. I will endeavor to pay much more attention to your work now, I think there is a lot I can learn from it, and I intend to work very hard at perfecting my way of doing things from now on.

Warren

Thank you so much! I'm kind of proud of this one, myself, but I have to give a lot of credit to the reference photo, which is really a stunner. The eyes were a challenge - that's pretty much why i decided to give it a go - to see if I could come close to getting the eyes right.
I'm watching you as well - your landscape technique is absolutely brilliant; I'm always afraid to try landscapes in watercolour because I'm not very comfortable with washes. I think we may wind up learning from one another here!

Your most welcome it's a great piece of work.

Thanks for adding me to your friends list, I put my studies into scraps and should have new work to post very soon. I definitely agree that we can learn from each other, I most certainly can learn from your work, and if you get a thing or two from me that wonderful. Just wrapping up the details of the sale of my company, and should be hard at painting in the near future.
