Description Mazda stopped production of its old sportscar, the RX-8 a few years ago, but they've continued to put out a few concepts since that have kept the dream of a follow up alive. The latest is the RX-Vision, of which Mazda have confirmed exceedingly little aside from the fact that it use a rotary engine, which was the sort of powerplant that sat within the RX-8. Unfortunately, it was abandoned because it wasn't really all that efficient or reliable, but it looks like Mazda's engineers haven't given up hope. I'm sure a number of you will be hoping that this is a thinly veiled future RX-9 production model, and if you are then you're hoping the same as I am!

My gosh I love the super long hood with the short back and with those shorts dynamic lines from theΒ C-pillar and the wide rear shouldersΒ

Yeah, it's really good looking. I really hope we'll see this on the road someday as the RX-9, or something very close at least.

I always loved the RX-8, so it makes me happy that they're looking like it'll have a successor. This looks awesome, though obviously a bit concepty still, so I'll be really curious to see what things look like when they reach production. The fact that they're still planning to try it with a rotary at all is rather interesting and exciting; I'd thought rotaries struggled a bit too much in the face of tightening emissions standards to be viable anymore. So I'll be excited to see where this goes and if it can pull it off!

I'm really excited for it as well, and this was one of my favourite cars of the show. I should point out that there's nothing at all confirmed about this, other than it's a design concept with a rotary engine. There's no clear statement to say that an RX-9 is coming, or that it will still use the rotary powerplant, but the fact they're keeping it in mind is still encouraging. In all honesty, I imagine they're monitoring the response and basing their decisions at least partially on what they hear. So, with that in mind:

PLEASE MAKE THIS MAZDA!

Yeah... so if Mazda do end up making an RX-9 or equivalent, it still may not have a rotary... but it's still nice to see that they've got people trying and wanting to at least. It's a neat engine design, and I like diversity, so it'd be great to see it still in use for another round if they can make it competitive in terms of efficiency and whatnot!

And yes, I'll second that plea!

Nice job! Hard to see how they could ignore an argument as well put as that.
