A night under the milky way and magellanic clouds at Deadvlei, in Sossusvlei, Namibia.  Deadvlei means “dead marsh.”  The trees here are believed to be about 900 years old, but have not decomposed because the environment is so dry.

What an experience it would have been to sleep under the stars at the Deadvlei.
Did you stay the night there?

I did not, but wish I could have.  There is a very strict curfew and you can only stay after dark for a few hours with a permit.

This wonderful photo has been featured in my latest Travel The World Edition: Travel The World Vol. 4 - Namibia

The world offers so many breathtaking locations and places to see and not everyone is able to visit them in person. With this new feature series I invite you on a journey to discover and enjoy the beauty our planet offers. Let's travel the world!

Namibian Deserts, Namibia, Africa

Namibia, with its wide deserts and savannahs, offers several amazing places worth a visit. The Sossusvlei area - remnants of the Tsauchab river that is silting up about 50km from the Atlantic coast - is one of the dryest and oldest deserts of our planet.
