Thank you! I don't think you struggle with it at all. In fact I think you have a much better grasp of color than I do. I wish i could blend skin as well as you can! That new picture you posted makes me so envious. Your lighting is amazing. I still have alot of trouble with that.

I use a lot of the smudge tool to help blend colors together, and I have a desk lamp and a mirror by my desk for quick dramatic lighting reference. I'm trying to get out of the hard shadows somewhat and practice more on diffused lighting, as I find it more difficult

Okay, firstly. I love you. But you already knew that, so we'll skip this whole fanboy whimperscreamgiggle part this time. No facerolling on keyboard for you. None!
Secondly. The set-up is perfect. It looks like an official photo shot by a professional more than it looks like a digital painting. You've really captured that something in this which makes it so alive and believable.
As for Kitagawa, you've definitely captured him there. That whole serious expression along with the expensive-looking coat is definitely his style. As for the shirt, while it is pretty much a deadly sin for a guy in his status to leave his shirt open like that, I can totally see him doing just that. If it was buttoned all the way up, it wouldn't be so much him - I can't understand why, but for some reason, that minor detail really contributes his character here. What.
His hair looks awesome. I want to stick my finger in there. On the other hand, I'd rather not go close. You've also made him somewhat threatening, and I'm going to give you extra points for this. He really looks like the sort of a guy he is.
I'm going to say about the full-sized picture that I'm in love with his nose's details. The pores on the highlighted side are... umm. Sexy isn't the right word. But I'd marry them if it was possible to marry pores.
As usual, the detail on eyes is really well done, you make eyes clear like they are in nature with depth most artist can't capture. I'm also going to say that his eyebrows are beautiful.
What really made me let out a weird, awed sound was the slight greying on his hairline. That is a really, really well done detail. Incredibly well thought and done.
The wrinkles and ear deserve a mention as well, both look like you just stamped a photo all over there and went with it. For some reason, the detail on his neck doesn't show well on the smaller version, it looks really good on the full-sized one!
