8X10 pastel on black paperThis is my last open air painting for 07.
This is a color study of the same area where Signs Of An Early Fall [link] was painted in mid December. The façade of this place has dramatically changed since then. Due to the warmer weather we have down here in New Orleans, there are still traces of leaves on the trees. A huge difference from the trees I saw in Louisville, Kentucky last month. Where the trees now stand like skeletons, bare of all leaves.

Yes, the weather is strange down here in New Orleans. It's hot during the day cold at night (not that cold either). So the trees retain their leaves longer than the northern regions. It usually gets colder by the middle of January, so the trees will loose all their leaves by then.

Very different December from that we have here. Allthough it's now almost the middle day, there is quite dark outside and it's raining chilly water to the black ground.
But your painting is pretty and full of light.

I also like the effect you get from black paper. Yes the hues become so vivid on this paper.

paint on black paper takes more time i guess? coz u have to cover everything,no helps from whiteXD

Not really-I do the under painting first, and then I start painting the scene.
