Sycamore Tree Valleycolor study
6X7 pastel on paper.
This is the second pastel study for Sycamore Tree Valley. The first of these color studies I have placed under Scraps. Not because it is not good enough to be in the gallery, but I just didn't want two submissions that look so similar side by side on my gallery.
It has been quite a while since I have used pastels, and therefore had forgotten how messy they can be. LOL Especially when you forget your blending tools (in this case, they were my fingers) already are stained with blue and you are blending yellows.
The inspiration for this came from a picture, by the same title, by . [link] This talented deviant's gallery has, in my opinion, some of the most beautiful landscape photographs. So with her permission I will be capturing some of her wonderful photos on canvas. Sycamore Tree Valley being the first.

I just realized you DID this with pastels. It is incredible. How do you keep such control over the broad ends or the crayons? (I know they are probably called something else & my use of this word is probably insulting). I just use mine like I was in Kindergarden, a flurry of awkward strokes (in the brightest shades possible) & a mad dash to finish line (10 to 20 min. tops).
This is so good I'd fav. it again & again. Incredible!

Yeah, pastels can easily be mistaken for oils.
