Curious to know what you used to finish this beautifully executed work with? I will most likely be cursed by all true woodworkers but I finished mine with polyurithane, see it in my gallery.

I used a polyurethane because it was going to get handled a lot. I use oil on bowls and may buff if needed. I know, others don't seem to like the poly much.

I do now and again based on how much work I have. I've been trying to finish one project for 6 months now and I'm hoping to finish soon.

What is the wood that you used for the handle?
Its definately a wood of the curly variety...curly walnut is the only thing that comes to mind.

I was lucky to find some curly walnut in cut off box at my wood store. I wanted ash for the staff but had to use maple.

Thanks, I just wish I had a lathe to do it with. I had to use a band saw and a file (with a lot of sandpaper).

Thanks. It just felt like when I first started woodworking(no tools) and I have so many things to make and so little time. I don't get to show all the stuff I make here at DA, but it was fun and the person loved it.
