I like it when people give hand writing a shot in their comics. Sure typing the letters is nice, but when you hand write something, it shows uniqueness, originality, and lots of heart and soul.

//raises hoof You've probably answered this one before and I'm just being ignorant, but what kind of pens do you use? And how much are they, and how long does one usually last for a comic like this? Because I'm also interested in making art this way since my digital art is a lot more crappy than my traditional one.

RedApropos In reply to OpalescentArtist [2014-10-18 15:36:39 +0000 UTC]
Faber-Castell PITT artist pens.
I can usually use one pen to ink several comics (except wide brushes and chisel tips, which lay out much more ink).
I always buy a pack that comes with sizes XS, S, F, M, 1.5, B, SC, and SB. I use all those sizes regularly. The pack costs about $35.
Since my very first comics on dA, I've only had to replenish two packs. These pens go a loooooong way.

So like, you scan these pages then color them digitally? Or color them traditionally as well?

May I please ask what paper size and what type of paper you use for drawing?
π: 0 β©: 1
RedApropos In reply to MolecularKogwheel [2014-06-02 15:25:38 +0000 UTC]
Hammermill, 90 brightness, 8.5" by 11" printer paper.
After experimenting with a number of different brands and whatnot, I found that one to be ideal for pencil and ink.

So, isΒ the reason your comic has high resolution isΒ not because you use large paper, but because of good scanner?

RedApropos In reply to MolecularKogwheel [2014-06-02 21:26:03 +0000 UTC]
My drawings are actually a fair size, but they scan in 300dpi, making it far bigger.
