OUTLAW STAR--cool show, action-packed, clearly in the tradition of E.E. "Doc" Smith's whiz-bang science fiction stories. Haven't watched the series in a while, but it got me interested in the works of Takehiko Itoh, who created the original manga.Wow...can't believe I did this close to six years ago! This was a commission done for someone who had liked a _previous_ OS commission I had done for a friend. It was all pencil, and because it was a commission, I don't have the original. But it was hell to scan--never seemed to come out right.
It's an older piece, but it's a personal fave of mine...oh well.
Besides, I've never noticed any OS artwork here--maybe I didn't look hard enough!

[UPDATE (1/27/2013): Just looking at the date on this...I can't believe that it'll be _ten years_ since I did this. My God, where did the time go? It's still nice to see that this gets views and comments, but isn't it time for me to take another crack at a new OS piece?]

I miss this show so much. To this day, this is still my favorite pairing in any series. I'm pretty sure that episode 25 was the one we were all waiting for when Gene finally kissed her. *Sighs happily.* One of my favorite moments in anime.

I've been going through it (slowly but surely) thanks to the DVD collection I bought a few years ago. It still holds up, in my view. If you can, try and track down the manga. I only have two volumes, but there could be scanlations around.
....and I cannot believe that this picture is nearly ten friggin' years old! Wow....

Wow...I was actually a little older than that when I first watched it. I had avoided it at first, but a friend convinced me to give it a shot by lending me his DVDs. Needless to say, I ended up loving it.
Wouldn't mind doing another one....

The DVDs my friend had lent me were the original DVDs released in the States by Bandai (they'd actually released it on both DVD and VHS!!) some years back. There were three volumes in total, with two discs each. The DVD set I bought a couple years ago was the "Anime Legends Collection" which had all six discs in one package. Sorry for the confusion!
It's still hard to believe that the show first came out over ten years ago. What is strange was that the original manga was never translated...maybe a scanlation exists, but I've never seen it....

Thanks! The manga itself was never translated into English, but I bought the first two volumes anyway (never did find out how many volumes it was in total, though....). The manga is actually quite graphic and explicit, but the art is excellent--overall, it's quite cool.
