Description Presenting my redesign of the Kelvin Timeline Constitution, the Midway subclass. 334 m in length, the Midway variant of the Constitution class cruiser is the culmination of the data recovered from the U.S.S. Kelvin. Starfleet's current flagship, the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 is a member of this subclass. The data recovered from the Kelvin has allowed for significant advancements in practically all systems including; warp drive, shield generation, and weapon systems. These changes were so extensive that the original concept of the class had to be reworked to the point the new ships were deemed the new Midway subclass. Perhaps most unique is the new defensive system. The Projectile Countermeasure Launchers act in a similar role to flares on historical combat aircraft. The eight launchers on the dorsal stardrive fire small canisters made of the same material as the ships warp coils and filled with excited warp plasma from the drive nacelles. The plasma agitates the miniature coils, creating a similar energy signature to the warp drive of the midway subclass. Most projectiles with tracking capabilities lock onto a vessels warp signature first due to the relatively high radiation emitted by most warp nacelles. It is hoped that firing the canisters up past the nacelles will disrupt the warp signature of the ship enough to cause any projectile weapon such as used to attack the U.S.S. Kelvin to lock onto one of the eight canisters rather than the vessel.

Nice. When I saw this it reminded me of this rendering of the Enterprise:
